the assets they get back. trying to win this year down do them any good either

What assets? There is no incentive for the Nets to tank. They don't have any of their own picks really except one which is a swap with Houston.

The answer is no .

Picks are great but you have to
Have good players to win games and/or make trades for better players .

Brooklyn coveted Bridges in the deal
and got him.

He’s 215. Yes he is very small for center.
Besides Jokic, Ayton is 250 and Zubac is a beast. Steven Adams is going to abuse him on the offensive boards.
Nance would have to play more than Claxton. Billy presents the same problem JV does. Yea they are big enough to help slow down those big 5’s, but those teams will just adjust to making them defend screens, which they both suck at.

And this pick is the 2023 draft. Houston is horrible, so Nets can try to tank the entire rest of the season and get a top 3 pick whether Houston takes the swap or not.

Also they can get off that huge tax bill.

For example, the Pelicans pummel the guy

He's averaging a double double, 3.5 blocks and 91% shooting in 2 games against the Pels this season.

And I specifically remember in the last one, we could not do a single thing with him with any of our bigs, he was crushing all of them with blocks and changing shots.

In 1 game Zion was 11 off 22 and Val 6 of 13. In the other game, Val was 5 for 11 and Nance 0 for 4.

Jesus, this again.

We opened the season against Brooklyn and rolled to 130 points and 61 rebounds! To their 39. They had no chance to keep us off the glass.

And last game, even without Zion and BI, and with them having KD and Kyrie, we still almost beat them. And we had 51 rebounds.

Everybody loves Claxton, he’s just not a very big guy. It’s ok to mention concerns every once in a while.

There's really not much data that supports this.

Claxton is in line with other centers like Rudy Gobert, Steven Adams, Joel Embiid, Jakob Poeltl, Bam Adebayo, etc etc in terms of defensive rebounding conversion. He battles on the boards just fine in contested situations.

In adjusted defensive rebounding success rate he outpaces guys like Gobert and Adams.

He does just fine on the boards despite being 215.

Putting all your eggs in the 1 game sample size isn't ideal.

You mean the game where Claxton singlehandedly bitch slapped us over and over to the point where we couldn't do anything in the paint with Val and Nance combining to shoot 5 of 15, and led all players in offensive rebounds?

This should have been the trade... Throw in a first or whatever to the Nets to make it happen

Would take a decent bit more than one 1st to make that happen.

I'd much prefer Bridges to OG if either were an option.

Why? They bring similar things to the table, except OG is bigger, and more of a big wing defender, where as Bridges in more of a guard/small wing defender.

ETA: if it's Klutch thing, I get that, frick Klutch. But as far as on court production, I'd much rather have OG.

Larry Nance is 245. If Claxton is having trouble, we can roll with Nance.

The data you presented doesn’t support what I said either.
That’s great that he is rebounding at a high rate. Evan Mobley does as well at 215lbs. Doesn’t mean he can guard Jokic and Ayton, or bang with Adams and Zubac

And to be clear, I would be all for trading JV for Claxton. I think Claxton/Larry/Billy would be just fine.

Any time someone would mention replacing JV with a defensive minded center the detractors would always come back with, "who would you suggest?". Well, here's your answer. There is a defensive minded center which could likely be had, the Pels need to make a move here.

I feel like Bridges is a better shooter(especially in more recent years) and better defender.

He's also on a contract much cheaper than the $30mil reported value for OG's next deal.

He's a DPOY candidate and some folks don't want him because of defensive limitations.

Who exactly do you want as your rim protector if Claxton is a guy that doesn't convince you is the right fit?

What makes you think that could likely be had? He is 23 on a nice contract. What incentive does Brooklyn have to unload him unless it were a massive overpay?
