Seabron is also way cheaper than temple. Don’t really care to pay 5 mil to a cheerleader. We have enough leadership from other vets. He provides nothing for a more expensive price.

It's why I said Temple should be on the vet min.

GT (again, theoretically) brings something

We are 8 games under .500 the two years he was here. It would be one thing if he was contributing to a winning culture. Whatever you theoretically get from him has already been milked dry

Pretty much what I was about to post but more succinctly put.

I don't see any tangible benefit to someone completely washed like Temple.

And yet, it's still more than Seabron could've possibly contributed.

I'm not saying it has to be GT, but I think the end of the bench role is better suited for a vet than it is some 2-way scrub who has little chance of ever sustaining an NBA career.

GT could literally just be front office guy but he doesn’t see the writing on the wall.

I'm sure he does see the writing on the wall, and the writing says front office staff members don't make $5 million a year.

2-way players do not count against the roster, so irrelevant.

He's made $60M in his nba career, which is beyond anyone's expectation, and he's been smart with his money on top of that. Of course he'd like another $5M, but it's not like he'll be hurting b/c he'll only make a couple hundred grand as an assistant instead of a $2M as a player.
There's a 99.9% chance we waive him. The only way we wouldn't is if his salary was needed for a trade for some reason.

and while i would like him to remain on the team, i do not want him taking up a roster spot. Give that to a young 2nd round or undrafted player, or hell just leave the roster spot open.

GT will obviously be back unless we can use his salary in a much bigger trade

If we were in his shoes, get to live home, playing for the hometown team, getting paid handsomely, and is in a role that you like, why would you give it up?

It's not that he's giving it up, but I doubt he wants to be traded, and if he were to remain with us at $5M, it's b/c we are going to trade him.
No one is going to pay him $5m to play basketball next year.

That’s like George Hill saying he wants a “Udonis Haslem role” with the Pacers. Can’t play anymore but keep the checks coming!

All he gives the team is another body at practice. He has not upside nor value. Let him go!

Garrett Temple says he’s given no thought to retiring.

Why would he? A free courtside seat and getting paid $5 mill/yr to watch basketball games.

Where do I sign up for that?
