That's interesting given the similarities in the numbers of his vs Adams through a small sample size so far of 6 games.

I think Adams is better and I’ve said that from the outset, he just is a more well rounded, physical version of what Favors could bring.
That said trying to place Favors into the correct context has been about as receptive around here as discussing the Christian Wood saga, people seem unable and unwilling to acknowledge basic realities and allow them to exist.
Favors was one of the few bright spots for us outside the core and statistically was a very good player for us. Our starting five unit with Favors was top 5 in the league in net rating. He boxed out well, rebounded well, was a very good rim protector, could screen assist well, and could get you some points here and there.
I said it before but the fan dynamic reminds me of Robin Lopez. Guy would get shite on constantly by fans because he didn’t have sexy numbers, or a highlight, cult of personality style of play, and would get blamed when it was the young guys fricking up on rotations and scheme. Difference is we replaced this gen’s Lopez with Adams instead of Steimsma/Asik so back then it basically forced people to recognize what Rolo actually brought to the table when we saw the persistent drop off. Favors got replaced by Adams, who again is objectively better, and he’s coming into a team and scheme basically made for his style of defense while Favors had to exist in one that actively worked against his(and despite that did exceptionally well).

adams is also elite at non-box score hustle stats
top 10 in the league in loose balls recovered per game
top 10 in the league in screen assists per game
leads the league in total box outs (2nd in box outs per game)
i cant recall favors ever hustling once tbh

Looking at hustle stats, Adams is:
* 9th in loose balls recovered per game (2nd amongst big men behind Kelly Olynyk)
* 9th in screen assists per game
* 2nd in box outs per game (behind Bam)
I was as big a critic as any about the Adams trade, but that was due to offensive fit and concerns about his effectiveness in the playoffs (the jury is still out on both of those). But Favors presented the same spacing issues. Thunder fans said Adams would do the hustle things that don’t show up on the traditional stat sheet, and he has delivered. I haven’t looked up Favors’ “hustle” stats from last year, but he did not look the part of a guy who was giving maximum effort on loose balls, hard screens, boxing out, etc.

Right and we dug into this stuff as well and Favors, while not quite as good as Adams as a whole, was pretty damn close on a lot of it, and in some surprising categories like box out team rebound percentage and DFG% at the rim.
He’s a solid player, but at the same time it is clear that Adams brings a lot more to the table, including things that don’t show up in any statistical category like his defensive communication and leadership.

Energy is infectious. Adams’ energy changes how others play.

We can wrap up this discussion but I'll certainly contend that, even if correct on some of the above points, I don't feel that properly explains such a large gap in one being a fan favorite and the other very disliked.

Tonight is a good test for out boys. TJ being out hurts them but this is a good team. They can definitely make some noise in the east this year.

Sons. It would be a great early season win if we can beat these Jabronis. Flock up.

Indiana isnt great on the glass. If we keep Sabonis off the glass limit their points in the paint, we should dominate.

I agree with you, but it’s appearance and energy level. If a super hot chick gives you a really good BJ and a fat girl gives you a really good BJ, which one are you gonna want again? Both are awesome, but the appearance is the difference.

We are 7 games in and I just now figured out I’ve had FS Nola this whole time, so I didn’t even need to stream

Zion’s ability to transition between power and finesse never ceases to amaze me

They threw BI out of the game for the exact same foul there
