Painful to recall that this trade was once so plausible the other teams' fans were pushing for it...

A perfect trade between the Chicago Bulls and Pelicans with Lonzo Ball and Lauri Markkanen:

Chicago Bulls
RECEIVE
Lonzo Ball
Eric Bledsoe

New Orleans Pelicans
RECEIVE
Lauri Markkanen
Coby White
Thaddeus Young

This surely is a lot for the Bulls to give up to get Lonzo from the Pelicans. But there’s not a whole lot that the Bulls aren’t getting back from the Pelicans in this trade deal when it’s all said and done. The Bulls get the veteran former Milwaukee Bucks guard Bledsoe along with Lonzo in a sign-and-trade from the Pelicans.

In hindsight, it is easy to look at what Lauri has become, but no one was high on him because he was considered a bust. It turns out that he was put in two situations with the Cavs and Bulls that did not have the personnel or scheme to fit his skillset.

With that being said, as an Arizona fan, I have always been a big Lauri guy and hoped we would have snagged him in a trade. I could not be happier for his success and believe he has finally been put in a situation where he can (and has) succeed.

Most of the stuff I want to happen never does and most are probably dumb ideas anyway, but Lauri was the Lonzo trade i wanted. I actually thought that one was going to happen.

I don't think having Colby White and Thad in there is very realistic though or was ever on the table.

It all worked out though, we got Garrett Temple out of the deal and the rest is history.

If I remember the potential trade we would have given away the draft pick we ultimately used to get Trey and Jonas.

Wrong. I argued a few times that we should have made the trade. Both times Griff passed it up I said it was a mistake. People forgot that he was very good offensively with the Bulls his early years.

I think Lauri would be a really good addition to this team, but I think Trey Murphy is a similarly valued piece to our team.

Looking back at that situation we probably don’t end up with both.

If we end up with those three, do we end up with CJ and Nance?

As far as straight assets go, that is a good trade. But taking the shite sandwich we got for Lonzo put us in a position to buy when Portland started selling because they wanted picks, expirings, and TPEs.
