Could just be made up rumors but it sounds good to me.

Do you think you are breaking news here? He owns the Saints, of course he does what is best for them. The Hornets are not competition for the Saints. I think you are about 6 years late in your thinking here when Benson had similar feelings. The Saints are making more money than ever despite the Hornets being here.

And that is why the likely answer is he bought the Hornets because he believes he will make money off of them, which by all accounts he should with the new deals. If anything Benson has probably realized he can promote the hell out of the Hornets through the Saints.

I'm wondering what kind of "big splash in FA" could be made without moving Jack, Ariza, and/or Oak.
The team is currently committed to $36 million in salary for 9 players, including a $5 million qualifying offer to Gordon which will assuredly become a $12-15 million / season deal.
Add in rookie deals for two lottery picks and you're looking at even less room to work with.
