I don’t even know what bet you’re talking about.

Nor will I take it no matter what it is because I don’t bet. But good for you.

of course you dont. you'd rather just call me a contrarian repeatedly.

C'mon, surely this is easy money for you if im saying it just to be a contrarian

How many 45% FT shooters do you think have ever made 40% of their 3’s over a 140 shot sample size?

Better yet how many over a 500 shot sample size have ever made even 31% of their 3pters?

You cannot cherry pick a small sample of a sample and call it a representative sample. That's like picking only the shots he made and calling him a 100% 3PT shooter.

I’m thinking the Knicks will overpay for AD. Not sure how they will but it just seems like a Knick move.

Not really. 20 or 22 consecutive games or whatever it was is not even close to the same to cherry picking shots here and there.

And on what planet is 140 3pt attempts a small sample size? That’s almost 2 per game over a full season lol

Since you’re into looking at stats, can you tell me if there has ever been a player that has shot 41% from the free throw line and 33% from 3? I’ll hang up and listen.

You said 119 FTs was a small sample size to judge though.

I’ve made a few points about his FT% but I don’t think that was one

I did say his misses were not that detrimental because he only averages like 1.2 per game

And that his % stabilized based on how he shot in college.

Either way he is clearly already an outlier, so the FT correlating to 3pt does not relate to him

The only guys who have shot worse than 45% from the line and better than 30% from 3 in a season, with any reasonable volume, are Lonzo, Nick Anderson and...Bruce Bowen.

Oh, so you mean it’s an outlier? It’s happened 3 times ever, and people are thinking that you can use traditional correlations between 3 pt % and free throw %, FOH.

Also, both of the players that ended up with those seasons finished shooting average or above average from 3 for their careers (39% for Bowen, and 35.6% for Anderson.)

ETA: the other thing they had in common was less than 2 FTs per game. It’s small sample size variance, combined with a jumpshot that is unique and doesn’t necessarily have a jump shot motion that translates from FT to 3pt. Just look at how he shoots.

Still rather #3 and 2021 unprotected Dallas from the Knicks.

So who do we seek out if we end up with Smart/Brown/Tatum?

We need a center or PF still. So maybe Mirotic comes home?

Ball will likely never be a good shooter no matter how persistent lester is in speaking it into existence. He does have other skills though

I member when Nick Anderson missed 4 FTs in a row in the finals vs CC when the magic were up 3 with 10 sec left

Nick Anderson is who I keep circling back to with regards to Lonzo. Dude shot nearly 36% on 3k three point attempts, then all of a sudden got the yips at the FT line.

I don’t think it’s crazy to think Lavar, the expectations, the lebron and laker shite etc may play a part in his mental state affecting his shooting and consistency. Especially considering the FT line distance is the same in college

Ball only avgs 2 FTs a game? Isn’t that low for a PG with his size?

Yes, he doesn't draw nearly enough free throws. That is more concerning than his FT percentage, IMO.
