This one was direct.

Herb's peak value is defending opponents number 1 option, which will also be starting the game. I don't care if Herb defends some bench player well.

Yes agreed. That's why him and Murray will close games.

Yes I'm aware. Y'all would rather just blindly scream for Herb to start > even trying to comprehend the advantage or minimal impact of him coming off the bench.

You'd rather play CJ and Hawk off the bench? Or BI/ Hawk off the bench???
Great lineups!!!
And we want BI and Trey to get most of their minutes together?? fricking genius i swear.

Herb could start 2 minutes and get replaced with BI.
Herb plays 30minutes
BI plays 30minutes

You'd love that, absolutely love Herb in the starting lineup.

BI starts, Herb replaces him.
Herb plays 35minutes
BI plays 30minutes

End of the world, we failed, cant believe we would self destruct like that.

Geez y'all are dramatic.

All of this just sounds like Trey is about to get absolutely boned when it comes to playing time while on the final year of his rookie contract. He’s not gonna be happy at all with that. Should get at least 30 min a night.

What needs to happen is finding a way to maximize the minutes of your best lineups. The starting lineup last year was klunky at best. They made up for it with the other lineups being better.

Even if small ball is wildly successful, I worry that playing BI/Zion/Trey/Herb against bigs more often exposes them to more injury risk. We want Theis/Karlo/Jemison soaking up as many minutes as we can tolerate.

I agree but the addition of Murray is the driving factor there.

It feels like fans are judging our team based on last years roster and not with Murray running PG.

Some of our "bad defense" that people say we need Herb for was actually just "bad offense" and lack of a true PG causing fast breaks and breakdowns.

We should already take a step forward with the starting lineup even if Herb is on the bench.

Personally, I only give a frick about what the players do with their minutes and putting out the best BALANCED lineups.

You want Cj in that lineup for shooting, Murray can be the primary defender to start a game. But Cj off the bench also allows him to come in with trey as the primary ball handler

despite my snarky post on the previous page, there really isn't a choice

You can't not start a 1st Team All Defense guy entering the prime of his career

CJ and Trey will play big minutes but neither will start (barring injury) until BI is traded, if he ever is

And you can't go with a starting lineup with little shooting and spacing either... But here we are possibly playing this game of Tetris once again.

I just don't believe this. If it was happening, it would be huge news for us. McCollum is going to start. All of our current success starts when we acquired him. I could make the argument that he is directly responsible for the growth of Murphy, Jones and Alvarado. He's the vet them and the rest of the team needed.

Here is a funny fact. Total playoff games:

Murray, Zion, Ingram, Murphy, and Jones (combined)- 51

McCollum- 67

I could make the argument that this is irrelevant to whether or not he starts for the team this season

Btw when did we start believing in Fletcher again? How does our coaching staff even know the starting center when we haven’t even had training camp yet. Clearly seems like something Fletcher makes up so 1 he could be right or 2 he is wrong but it wasn’t a huge prediction so no one cares

Not a bad pickup. He and karlo should be able to defend enough to let the Zion, Murray Jose, herb, etc.. push the ball. If bi decides he wants to stay, theis could become very efficient.
