tore his right achilles jan 31. Surgery Feb 5.

That's 8.5 months to mid/late october season start up.

Very unlikely he is playing at the start of the season, much more likely they play it safe and he wouldn't come back until after the new year/ASB.

You never know, but Achilles is a full year usually, and even then the player isn't the same for even longer, if ever

Sure if he's bionic like Kobe. But if you consider the conditioning involved to get back to the level he needs to be to play a tough position like PG, I wouldn't expect him until January at the earliest.

I doubt he plays before January. Achilles is usually a 10-12 recovery before you return to play and even then he probably won’t be back to his normal self.

I wouldn’t expect much. I think by the time he comes back the Pelicans will be in such a hole record wise that they’ll ease him back.

I expect us to be out of playoff contention pretty quickly into next season. Like this past year, the season will be over by new year.

If the Pels are in contention for a playoff spot in January, I could see him coming back around then. If it looks like another wasted season, could see him doing like Durant and taking the whole season off.

I would not be surprised if Dumars tries to dump his contract, to be honest

We’d have to attach assets to dump his contract which we absolutely should not be doing at this point.

Zero expectations that he’s ever lore than a reserve again.

Not like he was playing well before the injury.

He relies on athleticism. He’s not a good shooter. This is a devastating injury.

He’ll be a negative contract moving forward.

We basically traded a defensive player of the year for a bad contract unplayable guard.

Agreed. Not sure you could find a taker for his deal, but Pels would likely have to trade a first-round pick plus to get rid of him. It's got to currently be a top 10 worst contract in the league right now. Three more years at 30+ million per year.

I forgot this dude was even on the team who knows this team still has the same coach so them doing anything good next season is not likely.

I’d be happy if he could get back for New Years. That’s a pretty good estimate. He’d be 11 months out of surgery and I imagine he will start basket activity around 7 months and slowly ramp up. It will take a while to get over the mental part too of fearing another tear. My Achilles still felt tight and would easily get very sore well over a year from my surgery but Dejounte has a medical staff and PT to help speed his recovery and get that Achilles back feeling somewhat normal. I expect as long as Herb is ready to start the year that CJ will play PG and Herb SG until Murray is ready.

Depending on how much we suck next year I can see a 15-30 pels telling DJ to rehab the entire season

DJ attacks rehab hard as frick.

He will play early in the season probably off the bench for 10-15 minutes to get his feet under him, then start ramping up more in Feb/March

If I was running the pels I’d sit him all next season to make sure he’s 100% healthy going into the 26-27 season. I’ve said it before, we have an opportunity to do a quick rebuild by tanking again next year. No reason to rush Dejounte back so we can lose in the play in at best next year, that would be the most depressing outcome

I don't think we're going to have the same level of injuries.

The NBA is a very fickel league. The Warriors were set to win 5 titles in a row and only got 2 when kd tore his Achilles.

Boston has to blow it up now.

The only thing the pels can do to assure a tank is to get crazy and trade Trey Murphy or herb or zion.

I mean we’re already starting next year without Dejounte for a while. One ankle roll or pulled hammy from Zion and the season is over just like that. We don’t have the depth we used to to survive any injuries. We have to assume Zion is going to miss 40-50 games next year

They should print this on a T-shirt and sell it at the team store cause this has pretty much been our mantra since Eric Gordon

I mean yeah we're always injured but this year was wildly bad. I don't think we've ever had 5 starters miss significant time in a season
