re: Espn talking Durant to the Pels right now.

This reminds me of when the raptors traded derozen for 1 year of kawhi. I said at the time, I didn't like it for the raptors because demar was such a fan favorite and they are selling out for what? 1 year of kawhi and a championship? And the probably several years of mediocrity afterwards? I got down voted and was told that the one championship was worth it for them
Now we have same opportunity to trade a big fan favorite for practically a guaranteed championship and maybe 4 years of a top 2 NBA talent and everyone is saying it's dumb they don't want to do it.
For the record I'm against it. I think BI can get us to a ring with CJ and Zion and DD. But I just think the whole thing is funny.
And that's the drive truth. Out

Comparing prime Kawhi to an aging KD

And every single person in this thread/board will be claiming all those rings KD would bring…. Even if it was 1
Sad… but Nola fans rather watch shite burn than actually sun

These players age differently.
KD still has prime years left on him

Kevin Durant this past season averaged 29.9 pts, 6.4 assists, and 7.4 reb with a TS% of 63.4%. Those are MVP numbers.
And he was the only scoring option for the Nets most of the season, well when he actually played. He also averaged almost 4 more attempts per game than BI, yet only scored 7 ppg more, so that means BI would’ve had the same numbers or better if he shot at the same volume.

Adding KD to the Pels means they would have star players, role players, and a mix of young hungry players and playoff-tested veterans
You realize a majority of that depth would be gone in the trade right?
quote:
But Brandon Ingram? Y’all wouldn’t trade him for Kevin Durant?
No I would not, Ingram is 10 years younger and will be better for us long term than a player that has maybe 2 good years left in him.

Look if Durant actually wanted to come to Nola you try and make a trade. I look at it this way, one day you will be trading Zion, he won’t spend his whole career here. You either trade him now and compete for championships . Or wait till he’s in his prime and we finally competing and then Zion demands a trade to a big market. One way or the other Zion isn’t staying in Nola for his career. Will be AD all over again.

This would be exactly something the Pels would do. Momentum going from a nice playoff showing. Young core showing promise. Trade it all a way for a superstar on the downhill side of his career.

Zion is not asking out if we’re competing dude.

Trading for KD just wouldn’t be very enjoyable from my perspective and many others.
Like I said before, I would legitimately start pulling for the Pistons or the Rockets If we traded Ingram. I’d consider pulling for the Nets and Ingram if they were able to move Simmons as well.
I could maybe 5-10% justify trading Zion for KD.
I could halfway justify sending Jonas. Herb, Jax, picks for KD.
I just would rather not. Winning with your core is special. Leave that skipping multiple steps garbage to the LA Rams and Lakers.
Guaranteed/Easy championships are bullshite. If I liked those I’d Pull for golden state when they had Durant, the Yankees, or Alabama Football.

Rinse and repeat…
Seems like that’s the system and culture setup here…
Hopefully the Pels give him a great deal and don’t go the “football contract” they have been rumored floating to him…
Because no Matter how much success Zion + the Pels have in that short amount of time he will bounce first chance he gets…
Atleast with taking the approach currently they can possibly keep him if they prove what’s coming.
Long term hoping it works out and the Nola franchise can turn into a San Antonio like “feel”… for a small market

I see nothing that wants me to take KD unless Zion says he wants to go to Brooklyn

quote:Absolutely not. Kevin Durant had a TS% of 63.4%. That may be the highest efficiency in the league for a scorer.
He also averaged almost 4 more attempts per game than BI, yet only scored 7 ppg more, so that means BI would’ve had the same numbers or better if he shot at the same volume.
Brandon Ingram had a TS% of only 55.4%. That’s average.
KD is BY FAR the more efficient player.
Plus, your stats are wrong. KD averaged 2 more attempts per game, yet averaged over 7 ppg more than BI. 7 ppg is a huge gap as an average for a season.
Broken down by 2pt%, 3pt%, and ft%:
2pt %:
Durant: 56.8%
Ingram: 50.1%
3pt %:
Durant: 38.3%
Ingram: 32.7%
FT %:
Durant: 91.0%
Ingram: 82.6%

I am guessing that Brandon Ingram is 2x the player that any other team in the league would be willing to give up for Durant.
so even if you think it’s a good trade, it’s not good value. Name one other team in the league that would be willing to hand over a player in BI’s class in a Durant trade.
legal trades only please

Celtics and Jaylen Brown provided KD is fine going there.

Dude is 34 years old and has a lot of wear on his body
In the playoffs against Philly he looked bad. Really bad. Issues with his handle. Looked slow. Every player in history hits a wall at some point where they go from great to average. KD within two years is that guy
BI is in the ballpark of KD today and way younger. Why would you trade an ascending star for a guy ready for decline? A petulant child for the leader of your team. Truly a leader.
Stupid idea and not worth consideration

Agree. Let’s win it with our guys or not win it at all.

BI does not average 1.75 pps, no one in the history of the NBA has done that.

I think it is worth it to make an offer. What about CJ McCollum, Dyson, Hayes, and perhaps future picks?
Edit: Not sure how the salaries pan out. Let's say we add graham to that so salaries even out
