And? That's what we're hoping for, dude.

We couldn't let him walk. I thought all this went out the door last season.

You can't trade CP3 and get Gordon back as the centerpiece, then let him walk. And you can't magically accept some awesome trade that really isn't there.

The Hornets were in a tough position. I think his age is something that told them he could/should overcome his injury past.

agreed, i was thinking along the lines of sign and trade. We didn't "magically accept an awesome trade that really isn't there", because we didn't actively pursue a trade once he was signed. We should've explored the possibilities and hey maybe they did, i don't know.

Smith will play more when healthy...he's a fan Fav because of his work attitude.
For a city that embraces its superstars, you really think majority of people just randomly decided to not like one. We are all in on it/ he has no part in how city.feels about him?

Here's my theory on Gordon:

He's NOT actively trying to get traded. But he does not want to be here. How do I know this? Well, he told us "I Don't want to be there." This summer. Doesn't get a whole lot clearer than that.

He's never been happy to be here. See: press conference pictures. See: comments throughout the season. See: comments this offseason. He felt hurt that he was traded by the Clippers, and he just did not want to be in NOLA.

That's fine, he's stuck here. I honestly do not think he is actively trying to get traded, although I don't think he would block a trade.

I think he is just injury prone, and is completely unwilling to play through pain.

In short, he is a pussy that is TERRIBLE at PR. The guy just says the wrong things, and that coupled with being made of glass makes him an easy target for fans.

Jesus Christ

I think we can all at least agree that the contract was a huge mistake. I don't care why he's not playing, but we are paying him $58mil to do so. Huge waste of money

That's how I see this right now

if you have the opportunity to nurse Gordon back to 100%, you do that.

How can you do that if your doctors can't find what's wrong with you? I hate to sound like a broken record, but 2nd opinion. And if you're a star pro athlete a team has invested $58 million in your 2nd opinion comes from a nationally renowned expert like Dr. James Andrews and it happens sooner rather than later. With medical imaging it's possible someone like that has already consulted without needing a trip out of state, but that also seems like information you'd give to the fans in a damage control PR situation like this. Not "we'll see what the doctors tell me this weekend" but "We're consulting with an expert and expect to get results back this weekend" So until that's reported then neither Gordon or the team are treating this mystery injury with the level or seriousness you'd expect them to. Why would they do that unless the injury isn't really serious?

I agree with you that fans need to control themselves so we don't burn a bridge in a still salvageable situation, but you have to have hardcore homer glasses on to believe what they're trying to sell us. If it's true they're doing a terrible job of selling it.

just using common sense.

fans can be reactionary & stupid. It hurts more than it helps.

You can't put yourself in his shoes. You have no idea if he is truly hurt. shite everyone knows he is injury prone, you'd think he at least get the benefit of the doubt that he truly is hurting right now.

no, let's boo him.... that makes so much sense. honestly why would the guy want to play here? Think about it. He's been treated like shite by the fans since day 1 pretty much.

This is stupid. Public didn't really turn on him until his Syracuse tweet.

I think of New Orleans as a city of fans that will eat their own, Brees-worship aside.

Just find it somewhat telling how the front office is handling this. Yesterday's comments by the coach in which he basically is questioning the guy's heart, and today, no one from mgt is there to confirm what Gordon is saying. Also, where's Gordon's agent?!? Surprised no comment from him confirming Gordon's desire to stay in NO, wanting to get healthy, etc. Seems like for better or worse, Gordon is stuck on his own addressing the issues surrounding himself.

The fans and media aren't really doing their part to make him feel wanted and welcome. He wanted to go to a team that thought he was worth more money and was actively interested in him, only to return to the other team to the media badgering and boos and insults from fans while he's in pain. That's why it's fricking stupid to boo at the game and insult him on Twitter. Leave that shite on here. If he sees the city's support for the team and sees that we're ready for him to get back when he's healthy and help us win then he should have no reason to want to bolt. It's really a simple concept.

Lester, things you are saying are true. I do not agree with fans booing him at all.

However, I think Gordon deserves criticism. If this was NY or Chicago and he was doing this shite, he would be getting DEMOLISHED way worse than we could ever dish.

The guy has never even tried to endear himself to fans. He's terrible at it. How do you think fans are going to react?

They are fans for a reason. They aren't sitting there being all cold and analytical. They are emotionally invested and get pissed.

Gordon should know that and learn how to do deal with the situation. Instead, he's a fricking PR idiot.

Ok, I'm still on his side. Just listening to him speak, I believe the guy (Maybe I'm a sucker for the scared "hide in a hole" type of voice lol). Can't say I felt the same whenever I heard CP speak towards the end of his time here and all the swirling FA talk.
