re: Do you think the Pelicans could win gold in the Olympics?

I think last year's Pels squad FULLY healthy could win gold because of familiarity with one another. There are also proven 3 pt shooters on that squad.
This year's squad will likely be more suited for the NBA game, but there is no familiarity with each other (making them no different than plenty of these teams with NBA players).

could they win gold, sure.
I don't thing they could beat a healthy Spain though. France/Argentina/Brazil/Lithania/Serbia/Australia could all beat them, but the Pels should be able to beat them more often than not. The rest of the field they should blow out.

I mean think they could. But it's far from a sure thing. That team has shown me nothing for me to think they could beat a national team of Spain or France

I just watched France some vs Serbia.
you make 20 turnovers, one of the top mid majors (one or two great ones every season) could beat you.
We have not seen Pels in action, so I am using tip top mid major as a stand in.
Xavier a couple years ago.
Butler at its best.
Team ball. some height and very good shooting.
it remains to be seen if the Pels will manifest team ball or very good shooting. Come on Buddy.

All Time NOLA?
Tyson Chandler/Jamal Magloire
Anthony Davis/David West/PJ Brown
Jamal Mashburn/Peja Stojakovic
Buddy Hield/J.R. Smith
Chris Paul/Baron Davis/Jrue Holliday
like it or not Eric Gordon is probably the best 2 guard to ever play in NOLA.

A team with prime Iverson and Duncan along with young LeBron, Melo, D-Wade, Amare and Marion only won bronze, but the Pels led by Davis, Tyreke and Jrue are winning gold.
lol

Where's Dan dickau?

EG flashed no more here than Wesley, Smith, Thornton, or Reke
Toss up honestly based on preference. EG honestly gets graded on a curve due to his injuries/LAC potential more often over what he did here IMO
Hopefully Buddy can end this debate himself in 2-3 years

Could the Pelicans beat Team USA? What if they had Jokic???
Posted on 8/13/16 at 8:13 am to CapperVin
The Warriors seem to be limping through, my guess is the pels would struggle.

This fully healthy Pels team would beat the rest of the world this year. The field this year is just not very good. We're assuming that people like Diallo, Asik, and Ajinca would be on the team magically.
AD would be by far the best player in the tournament, and add Jrue, a healthy Tyreke, and some decent role players that are better than 90% of the world. Yeah, they would win.
We wouldn't really stand a chance, at winning Gold.

My second post in this thread I said we would need the all time team and ppl down voted like we could walk in the the roster we have now and even compete
Posted on 8/19/16 at 6:10 pm to Lester Earl
no way in hell. they wouldn't even medal
Posted on 8/19/16 at 6:57 pm to Andy Bernard
yea i said that 2 weeks ago. i wonder if people still believe this
Posted on 8/20/16 at 2:02 am to Andy Bernard
We won't medal and it's because we don't have the talent...

The amount of star gazing in this thread is impressive. The USA team is not GSW because they have a chunk of the roster. The world is not loaded with all stars because they've put up a fight. The USA team is getting by on talent and zero chemistry. The majority of the NBA could look better.

The Pels arent even considered a playoff team and you think they're winning the Olympics?
