Yes, I pretty much always want my team to win games. I am also not delusional enough to think this team will win a championship in the next couple years, though.

I do to an extent. I care more about HOW we're playing and what kind of effort I see. But unlike the beginning of the Davis era, this team is not starting from scratch. And I expect them to eventually win some games this year. Will I be disappointed if we miss the playoffs? No. But will I be disappointed if we win just 25 games? Yes.

If we dont make the playoff this coming season, im fine with that. Im not expecting us too so I wont get mad if we dont but it'd be nice to be in the hunt. It screws you to end up as the 9th or 10th spot but i'd rather that than tanking, it was miserable watching them tank this year and even worse in the in game threads on here. It worked out, but it was miserable.

But id like a nice playoff push in Zions sophmore season.

If we can flip the #4 for a nice player, we are a legit playoff team this year though.

I think it changes things w/ the amount of draft capital we have now. Not as much need to sit back and wait.

Right now on sportsbook, under 38.5 wins for the Pelicans is favored at -145. Seems low to me, but I'm both biased and optimistic

Well yeah.

I don’t think they’re that far removed from being a playoff team as is.

If we trade 4 and get a legit 25-32 mpg guy who can shoot I think we’re in play for 6th-8th seed, maybe 5th seed if the bounces go our way.

If you believe you can get into the playoffs you have to at least try, IMHO.

Just depends. If we flip some assets to get a Beal level player we better be winning as we’d have two all star caliber guards, two guys picked in the first two picks of the draft that are now a few years in and should be making a jump, and Zion.

Personally I’m not about this extremely slow build. We have enough talent on this team that we should be somewhere in the high 30s in terms of games won at very least.

I don’t think Jrue would be as bought in as he is if it was going to be a 3 or 4 year process to get to the playoffs.

Playoffs next season? Not sure...I see this team starting to jell in 2020-21. We will be a young team but the talent will start to pay dividends and it is going to be great to see it over the next few years!

We have enough assets and pick for the future that I want to be good or at least have these young guys have productive seasons. Constantly losing and tanking is not healthy

I do if my view on the players is correct. Im expecting to compete for the playoffs next year. Im expecting Zion to come in and be a monster on the glass, cleaning up, put backs and things of that sort. Jrue should be Jrue. Key is the progression of Ball and Ingram in a new system. On paper, Ball should be a monster in this system. That along with Ingram progression as a scorer, we could be able to compete for an 8 seed if the individual defensive abilities of our players translates to us being a good defensive team.

Prime Zion Williamson should arrive in three or four years. That's when I think we should plan to compete for titles.

Is playoff experience part of getting ready to compete for titles? Why, yes, yes it is. With the assets we have left (#4 pick and money for free agents), I expect us to get players who will help us compete for the #8 seed this year. That doesn't mean that it's a must, but it can and should be an attainable goal.

Then, playoffs should be an expectation for the 2020-2021 season.

it's probably going to take a lot more than Zion, Jrue, and the #4 pick to win a championship,

I got a feeling that the two main parts of the trade we just made will play a factor as well.

The team is going in the right direction which is perfectly fine for year one of a rebuild. Wins are only important to the extent it convinces Zion and the other young talent that this is a team worth playing for down the road.

Don’t wait, try to build a championship team now. Zion will be an instant top 10 dominating player even his rookie year.

He is the one we have all been waiting for. And when I say we I mean everyone who loves watching the NBA.

I care, but it’s secondary, if not tertiary, to other considerations.

Yes, I care about wins. For years, I kept watching the Pels waste AD's prime and was constantly told to calm down. All of that to basically get one trip to the WC semis and one trip to get swept as an 8 seed.

If they don't make the playoffs this year but get close, that's fine. But in the next 2 years, I really want to see them make some noise.

Not exactly, but the way the roster is structured we should not intentionally tank. We need to try and build momentum as we will have many long term pieces already on the roster. Those guys need to get used to playing winning basketball

More than anything I'm looking forward to watching a healthy team who isn't losing winnable games because key players are either out or spending chunks of time in the locker room getting assessed. Nelson alone should raise the win total by a few games.
