Not to take anything away from BI, but I’m not sure he ever becomes this player if not for NOLA. Nola, by his own words, seemed to give him space to focus on himself and we all know just how insanely talented Vinson is. It really seemed like a perfect storm for the kid and while I have no doubt seeing how dedicated he is that he would have made us eat our words regardless, I’m not sure he’d be the borderline superstar that had all time levels of efficiency growth if not for the right situation coming together for him.

he just needed to be the point forward on the team. The second he was with Lebron, he became an inefficient player. He shouldn't be a catch and shoot player. He's in an in rhythm, running the offense, making passes and shooting over the top of people player.

nah.

I still really like Jah's offensive game. He just can't fricking stay on the court or guard someone.

WOJ Bomb: AD traded to Lakers for Ball, Ingram, Hart and Three 1sts, including #4 2019

I keep most hot takey, overreactive threads in the annals of TD bookmarks.

More people were concerned with Ingram's blood clots than his play. Saying the #2 overall pick is good is not a hot take - he was averaging 17 point on near 50% shooting in his age 21 season when this thread was made

Which means he's not a good player, in any context really.

I agree largely and think that sort of backs up what I was saying about the situation being a perfect storm for Ingram.

He had a flat out semi broken shot and rebuilt it in New Orleans under Vinson.

His first three years in LA he took around 385 threes(almost all of them wide open and in a catch and shoot situation) and only made 33% of them, shooting just 66% from the FT line. In one year after working with Vinson he took 385 threes in just one season(basically matching his career totals to that point) and almost hit 40%, improved his FT rate and increased his FT efficiency to 85%. Which is the fourth largest increase in league history.

I think it’s fair to say you definitely saw in him what many of us did not, and noticed some trends that spoke to his sky high work ethic, but I also don’t think he becomes the BI we know today if this perfect storm doesn’t happen.

Nice

I had a poster the other day saying I was massively hating on Ingram when we made the trade. Still wondering what posts of mine are out there hating to that degree.

Just found in that thread you linked me thinking we raped the Lakers on that one, so not sure how I'd hate BI that much and think we got a monster haul, especially since I wasn't huge on Ball either at the time.

he literally led the pistons in Plus/Minus for a game this season. And got injured.

That said, he's only 25. Bigs take longer. I haven't given up on him.

I’m sure your records not the cleanest either though Gyno? Like arguing Kris Dunn, Dragan Bender, and Chriss were the guys to get in 2016.

And you got really defensive, to the point of hostility, when people tried to tell you the writing was on the wall and Dunn was going to Minny barring some insane workout that upset their draft board. McNamara actually got in on that stupidity as well because he wanted to create some head cannon that Dunn would fall to the Pels and fix the world....Another person that somehow has never been wrong ever lol.

These games are silly. Especially because I’m pretty sure everyone, myself included, are all standing in glass houses to some extent.

why don't you wanna give me some love big gyne! quit cherrypicking my adjectives and my context. My Jah is good thread was based on seeing him in preseason, dropped weight and saying he had a shot at minutes

Here I am, in this thread, with a bunch of people hating on him, saying that BI could be better than Simmons. Here he is, arguably demonstrably better than Simmons, who everyone at the time would've loved as return in the AD trade.

There are literally people in this thread calling him a crackhead.

And then, I make the argument for him becoming the exact player that he has become. To his credit, your brother liked Ingram too. SFP, just didn't like the contract sitch which is very SFP.

Jah has an amazing post move where he spins right into a little baby hook. It's very effective. When opposing bigs aren't ready for it, he can reel off several baskets quickly.

But he lacks a counter to that move and doesn't really have much else in the toolbox. When opposing bigs shade him to his right and dare him to go left, he can't.

So, I don't really like his offensive game. It's very limited.

Cool. Don’t think I said otherwise? I also thought Asik and Solomon hill were good acquisitions at the time.

I know karma personally, he knows I posted in jest. Hope I didn’t offend you
