Like his confidence

LINK

However this is not that reassuring-
quote:

Davis said that hearing former players such as Kevin Garnett express regret about not asking sooner for a trade to a more competitive franchise has made him think. "It makes you think, 'cause you're wondering if you're following in that same path," he said. "But then again, you're like, 'This year could be the year.' "So, just got to take it year by year and just see, and see where the team is going, what direction they want to go to and just see where their head is."

I mean, what is he going to say with that leading question? I didn't expect him to say, "nah, I don't care about any of that, I'm new Orleans for life."

ETA: It was actually a pretty mature honest answer, which I can appreciate and respect. It's really on the franchise to give him a team he wants to stay on.

Pelicans should resign Cousins and trade Davis.

Pelicans I bet could have traded an injured Cousins for something from a team with talent but out of the playoffs.

anyone who thinks the meter isn't running on davis is delusional.
here's the sad part...next year was going to be the run that gets him re-signed. Now with 50% boogie and a thin roster that's highly unlikely

Demarcus cousins missing a free throw might cost this franchise Anthony Davis and any chance at relevance

Our only hope is that we can land Coach Cal to somehow convince AD to stay.

This truth is hard to swallow. We're slowly watching it die.

It literally sucks watching us rot away two once in a lifetime players because of bad GMs that never deserved to stay this long.

I could deal if we were the Jazz clippers grizzlies or nuggets and lost AD... We're just a southern Sacramento.

Too many people are underestimating Cousins. He's not going to let this stop him.

Like I said on the MSB, if we can keep
Davis/Cousins/Holliday/Mirotic/Rondo as our core we could be the 3 seed next season.

How about you quote the good parts, and not just the part that makes people shite their pants.

quote:

As New Orleans star Anthony Davis prepares for the second half of the season with the Pelicans holding on to the eighth seed in the Western Conference, he still thinks about what could have been this year had teammate DeMarcus Cousins not ruptured his Achilles.
"We could have gone through the playoffs. No one could really stop us as bigs. We go to the Finals if we went," Davis told ESPN's Rachel Nichols in an interview over All-Star weekend.
"[Teammate Rajon Rondo] reminds us of it: 'You guys are the two best bigs. I know what it takes to win championships; we got it.'"

AD has expressly said in other interviews that his plan is to stay in Nola and win achampionship. So we’ll see.

I do think we advance in the playoffs if Cousins had not been injured. AD knows that. With our two bigs healthy, the Pels are a very tough team to beat.

Davis is one of the easiest going unselfish superstar players in the game.Yet you would be hard pressed to find any superstars wanting to play in New Orleans.
Management will soon have to decide on Boogie. I doubt he would ever sign a 1-2 or even a 3 year deal if he can get paid and guaranteed money longer. Can’t blame him.
If the Pelicans let him go, start figuring the best talent you can acquire, along with picks to try again. New Orleans get a once in a generation talent and blow it. Hopefully it all works out. Most of these players want the big market, big cities. AD with Knicks, Celtics, Lakers elevate his earnings off the court.
What are they willing to commit to Boogie?

Boogie is re-signing. Your post was incoherent but I think that was the main thing you wanted to know.

Thats not an issue. The issue is how aggressive they will be after that move.

How aggressive can they really be though given the salary constraints?

I think step 1 is to operate like you're going to be a tax team. Don't immediately dump Ajinca, save him to use in a trade later. Resign Rondo with Non-Bird Rights. Use the taxpayer MLE to add someone, maybe split it between 2 someones, this is a really terrible FA class.

Step 2 is to tread water long enough for a good trade to come along. If you made a good MLE signing, Moore/Ajinca/MLE/Diallo/Jackson/Picks should be able to bring you back a $25ish million disgruntled star.

you can't have a team with 4 guys making $105M.

Who's the $25M stars that might be availalbe next year? I would think maybe Barnes but Cuban doesn't sound like he wants to get worst. Maybe the Raptors want to have a mini rebuild after a bad showing the playoffs and a slow start and look to get rid of Lowry?
Beal or Porter possibly of the Wizards still can't do anything and Lebron is still in Cleveland, same for Toronto with Lebron.
Memphis with Conley?
Portland with McCollum?

I don't see to many of those being possible trading targets, outside of maybe Conley, and i do'nt think we can offer what others could, although most thought that with Cousins.

You'd eventually have to choose between say Kemba/Jrue, but if you have a legit PG then in theory you can get away with just a 3 and D guard in Jrue's place. If Jrue keeps playing at a high level maybe you could do something like Jrue for Patrick Beverly and Lou Williams. That may not be the most realistic example, but a 2 for 1 trade like that where you turn a good starter in Jrue into a role playing starter and good bench player.

The most important positive development this season probably isn't adding Mirotic but Jrue playing well enough that he's not untradeable like most of us assumed when he signed the deal.

Scott Kushner @ScottDKushner 1 minute ago

Anthony Davis: “I’m here until 2021 and then I’ll make a decision from there. I don’t plan on leaving in the next couple of years or anything like that. I’ve always said I wanted to be here and that’s still true.”

Davis: "We have taken steps to be a winning franchise. We have just been hit with the injury bug every year since I've been here so we can't see our full potential. We know where we could've been if we had those guys. But we don't. We have to keep playing."

Davis: "You have to take it year by year. I don't go into any year saying I don't want to be here or nothing like that. Of course at some point you want to win. I feel like we are trying to get the right pieces around here."

AD: "I think our front office is doing a better job. The best job they can do. I feel like we're moving in the right direction. But you do have to take it year by year & see how it goes. That's how I'm approaching it. Of course Cuz is a big factor, what he is going to do or not."

For those of you wanting this team to walk away from Cousins, AD just said you probably shouldn't if you want him to stick around.
