I was listening to this shite bag during lunch. Kanell said that if there ever was a time to rig the draft, it was last night. New Orleans doesn’t deserve Zion, the Knicks do. He was in a bar on Long Island last night and to see the air sucked out of that place within 10 secs was disheartening to him. It was an eye opener and that the NBA should have rigged the draft to give the large market and Nike what it needed and that Zion should pull an Elway or Eli and refuse to go to NOLA. The guy is an asshat.

Zion: I refuse to play in NOLA

Silver: Ok. I refuse to allow anyone associated with the NBA to give you money, and NOLA retains your contract rights until you decide to come back. You will be considered a rookie on that day.

That's simple.

Screw it.

Then we'll take the #3, Robinson, and Knox from the KNicks for Zion.

And we'll take Tatum, Brown, Smart, Morris and 2020 1st Rder from Celtics for AD.

Morris is a free agent and that's not enough anyway

Is it really that simple to just ignore the actual rules and make shite up?

Also national media "let get him in NY with James Dolan"

I just love how everyone was so certain the Knicks were getting the first pick and now they're crying like little bitches because it didn't go their way.

Not only crying about. Ive seen it as far as saying the draft should not happen anymore. Lol

People keep trying to compare sports to a regular 9/5 job. "Players should be able to go wherever they want"

I only see that take from fans that feel they got screwed. They seem to be fine with it when they get the pick

Nah. Hard cap, no max contracts, no draft.

Would be epic!

Hey dumbass, you DO know that NBA draft rights are written so that the drafting team retains them if they play professionally ANYWHERE, right?

Only ways Zion can dodge this are returning to Duke and sitting on his arse for a year bringing in nothing and I don’t see him doing either.

You didn’t elaborate on what was wrong with that original statement.

You acted as if he could play overseas and still re enter the draft.

And I guarantee if he does it, they will find a way to ensure he ends up somewhere far worse than New Orleans.

The year before last, the Pelicans swept the first round of the playoffs and should have won two games against Golden State (without Golden State shooting 1000 free throws at home). They competed better than Cleveland who was swept in the finals. These dudes are acting like the Pelicans finish dead last every year or something.

Hasn’t even been a full day yet since they realized they were getting Zion, but Pels fans have already become insufferable.

Neither my post nor his said or insinuated anything about playing overseas. So if you took it that way, that's a you problem, not me.

Unlikely, but if he removes his name from the draft this season, and just, say, plays for the national team he can re-enter next season, and there's nothing Silver can do about it.

I thought Kanell was funemployed. The dude is a clown, I hope Russilo punches him out next time they see one another.

Russilo is you are reading this, which there’s a good chance he lurks TD. Please knock this clown out next time you see him.

Maybe, maybe not.

This where the term “unprecedented” comes into play because it would be the first time since players had to affirmatively opt into the draft that the consensus number 1 pick would pull out unexpectedly.

And that’s assuming that he is capable of pulling out at this point. If he signed an agent and took money, he may be fricked as far as the NBA and NCAA are concerned.
