It was obviously better from a "product on the court" standpoint for the Hornets

for this year, yes.

but this LAC deal is a possible franchise changer for 2012 going forward.

sterling (and this is relatively recently) hasn't minded spending money if his team is guaranteed to be great

he had a high payroll with that team who was scary in the playoffs a few years ago. then brand fricked them over

he almost signed kobe to a MASSIVE deal. i think the brand-kobe stuff made sterling have a little fire to show up the lake show. this would let him do that

this Clips deal just makes me wonder yet again what was wrong with the Laker deal?

chris paul was going to the lakers (AND we would give the lakers a huge trade exception to dangle with bynum to try to get dwight howard)

so what.

the owners caved on the CBA and it is just business as usual. I can't believe they cried over the Laker deal and therefore left us with literally nothing for a roster

not really. the players cut a BUNCH of salary, the tax is more punitive (and is shared moreso), and the midlevel exception is less. also player contracts are shorter

Not really. After two years all of the changes are in effect and will make a difference.

The Lakers deal was a be a middle of the playoff pack for the next few years before needing to blow it up deal. The Clippers deal is a cross your fingers and become the next OKC deal. Everyone says Gordon is legit and will be a top SG in the league. Add 2 top 10 picks in this deep draft and you have 3 young studs to build around. The biggest problem is how do you pick Durant over Oden or CP3 over Marvin Williams. Many of those picks that look idiotic in hindsight were consensus picks at the time.

fair enough.

And I am on board if this trade makes us better going forward...like was said in the previous post the NBA draft can be such a damn crapshoot I hope we do something good with those picks

I might be foolish...but I believe in this admisitration to be able to rebuild this franchise. Hopefully this deal doesn't get struck down. I'm not getting my hopes up though.

Are the players in the OP still legit? Is this a good deal? I know nothing about those Clippers players except for Kaman, who is a joke right?

anyone know what kind of temperament Gordon has...not overly familiar with him.

If we build around him is he the type to be a bitch and leave even though we're giving him everything?

Kaman was actually pretty good last year until he got hurt, IIRC. His injury opened things up for DeAndre Brown to step up and he did so, which is why he's now got a huge contract.
