That was in the middle of the night. Everything I've read this morning says that the deal is dead for now.

Larry Holder of CBSSports and the Sports Hangover on 690:

He says that his sources within the organization say that Dell Demps, other front office personell and scouts are indeed doing absolutely nothing on this deal, that the NBA lawyers are making basketball decisions without consulting them at all.

AND that the thinking now may be to hold on to CP until the trade deadline, tank, and trade him for whatever they can get.

What would that accomplish though? We would get peanuts in return and a pissed off fanbase this season.

The one thing about waiting until the trade deadline is you have a better idea of what Minnesota does. If the Clippers make you choose Gordon or the pick, at least you'll know whether it will even be top 10.

Who knows if that's true or not? ESPN says it is true, Yahoo says it isn't.

TYPICALLY, yahoo is more reliable. I would very much like to believe ESPN for once.

There have been so many different stories and angles here it's hard to say what is true. Still, if that deal was there yesterday it will be there in March. The draft is heavy in PFs which the Clippers don't need, and if they get Paul they can't afford to keep Gordon who will be looking to get KMart money.

I wish Billups would tell them "I'm going to just retire unless you get CP. If you get CP, I'll play with him."

Come on Chauncey...

Sadly, I think this situation may unfold totally different... Chauncey doesnt wanna play backup

Aside from the travesty of this yank and pull trade chaos, I bet when teams are in these kinds of blockbuster deals and they see what is being said by media outlets, they just lolololol.

He'll play backup or the 2-guard spot if it means playin with cp. He cant be that naive to think he is full time starter quality anymore.

From what I'm hearing, it's possible that Billups could play the 2 a lot like he did with Lawson at point in Denver. That would have him taking Gordon's spot in the lineup, except when CP3 left the court for a breather.
