Countering the "Can't Blame Davis" argument being thrown around

He has played with good to very good players every single year that he was here. Dell had some big misses (Asik and Solo), but no one is lining up to sign with New Orleans. That will not change, regardless of who is the coach or GM. AD has been to the playoffs twice with these players:
-Boogie
-Jrue
-Mirotic
-Rondo
-Randle
-Tyreke
-Ryno
-Gordon
Again, we can bring in any other GM and that is not going to change the fact that New Orleans is always going to have to overpay players and gamble in trades to get talent here.

First, this is way more constructive than your Throw shite at Davis thread, so thanks for positively redirecting your frustration
Second, I think most of us have said at some point we'd be happy with a Memphis Grit N Grind level of success. Regular playoff team that always makes the big boys sweat and if things break your way maybe you make the conference finals one year.
That's why I'm hoping for a package like Tatum more than a traditional rebuild around someone like Zion.

Part of the issue is that AD hasn’t been consistent enough for other true stars to want to come here. Our biggest get was DMC. But look at AD’s track record. He has played well when he’s played. But he hasn’t played a full season in 6 full seasons he’s been here. In the previous 6 seasons, he’s played exactly 5 seasons of games. Let that sink in. He’s missed almost 20% of the games he’s played. You can’t do that and expect to make the playoffs consistently

This is why I think the league is overvaluing him to an extent. He can’t stay healthy for a full season. Misses way too many games. If we had legit front office personnel we would be able to turn this into a win.

I am an unhinged, passionate fan. I like to vent first, then figure out where to go from here. Peja remains our biggest FA acquisition ever, and he was already long in the tooth when we signed him. New Orleans will never get a good FA, so I am fine with that.
I would like to see a Smart, Tatum, Brown package and watch Smart and Jrue destroy every other back court in the league.

Fine. Technically he was not. But he basically chose where he wanted to be traded to

I can't see Boston giving up both Tatum and Brown, they'll need to keep one good wing on a rookie deal. I like Smart but think Crewz has the right idea in that the Pels should take a chance on Hayward. Right now he's a negative asset so you'll probably get an extra pick out of it, and if he rounds back into form you've got a pretty potent 1-3 in Jrue/Hayward/Tatum.

Outside of Rondo, a list of perennial losers

That's an interesting interpretation of what happened

Compare that list to anyone that Garnett played with in Minnesota, and you can truly see how ineffective Davis has been in turning talent into wins.

How can you be happy with this when you have let two all NBA players walk in their prime?
I love the Pels, but its almost like whats the point of being a fan if you cant keep anyone worth a shite.

I blame Davis for one thing -- demanding he play power forward earlier in his career when everybody with a brain seeing that he would be the best modern day center imaginable.
That led to trading a first for Asik, and also terrible contracts for Asik and Ajinca. Using that pick and money for a real wing might have actually made this team a contender

Garnett took a team with it's second best player as Terrell Brandon and a rookie Wally to the number 1 seed in the west.
I've posted the comparisons before in great detail, and AD doesn't come close to stacking up to what Garnett did in Minnesota with far less talent.

One of my post AD ideas for adding rim protection is getting Whiteside from Miami, but he's available because he's a $20 million head case that causes problems in the lockerroom. If the choice is Hayward and a pick to trade for a less expensive center over Smart and Whiteside for the same cap space do you still think it's terrible?
We should be open to all ideas right now, but even if they clean house the Pels are still going to have limited options and directions they can go.

Because it's better than the success we've seen with those 2 all NBA players. CP3 hasn't done any better even after leaving for a better situation.

We've had winning season twice in the last 7 years with that all NBA player AD. We kept waiting and waiting to get better, and last season and this offseason looked extremely promising, and AD shite the bed this year b/c he had already made up his mind he didn't want to be here.
I'll be happy when we have a team of guys that give it their all every night.

When he bought his mansion in LA and signed Rich Paul, he was already gone. He has been mentally checked out, noticeably, since then.

Davis = great talent, can't carry a team though. plain and simple.
injury prone which has created problems through the years on getting over the hump.
we have had a lot of bad luck to go with this.
