There is no reason for him to take more shots and play more minutes than BI and Zion. I think he is good to have but he doesn't need to be our #1 shot taker unless BI and Zion and JV and Trey are all hurt.

But it's also up to BI and Zion to be aggressive and get their offense in. They have been really passive early in games for the past couple of games for some reason.

What?
In no universe should CJ be the 5th option. He’s a far better bucket getter than Jonas and Trey. Trey shooting the 3 has got some of y’all heads clouded.

CJ’s gravity is important for the rest of the guys on offense. Defenders are going to give him attention even if he’s shouting sub 30. He needs to shooting to keep ‘em honest and find his groove

I don’t hate him taking 3s. He should take 7-10 a game. I also don’t mind when he drives to the basket. It’s when he doesn’t pass the ball once and dribbles around terrible picks and throws up a horrible low percentage middy that makes me irrationally angry. He didn’t do it as much last year but he does it wayyyy too often this year.

You’re talking about his midrange once again when I’ve already shown you above that he is shooting the mid range better than BI. It’s like some of y’all are willfully ignorant and just want to keep spewing idiotic lies to make yourself feel better.
Hell CJ is shooting the midrange better than he’s shooting from in the paint, so you WANT him shooting the mid

CJ shouldn't be playing hero ball if he has those guys on the court. If you like watching the PG play ISO hero ball while other guys are unguarded then there is no hope for you.

CJ’s usage rate is lower than it has been at any point in his career save for his first two seasons. This is yet another wrong narrative that needs to die

He still should not have more shots on a regular basis than Zion and BI

This I will agree with, however the talk about CJ is just chunking up bad midranges, he’s hogging the ball, he’s doing nothing but iso, etc needs to stop. His usage is down even after carrying the team for 2 games with BI and Z out, he’s a top 4 midrange shooter in the NBA this year, and he’s leading the team in assists.
BI and Zion have both diverted to CJ, CJ has been the only guy that’s actually been aggressive on offense for the entire 48 minutes of the game, Look at BI and Zion not being aggressive more than CJ taking the reigns. They pick up their game CJ will sacrifice even more of his game, it’s in them to take the reigns though, not CJ

Even if you were right, CJ should be shooting WAY less with two stars next to him vs 1 star in Portland. 10 shots per game is plenty and most should be open 3's. 10 shots, 10 assists should be his goal. It is hard for BI and Zion to be aggressive when they never touch the ball on possessions when CJ is shooting early shot clock step back iso shots. 1/2 of CJ's shots are early in the shot clock step backs under tight or very tight coverage. He should eliminate ALL of those.

CJ sees this as "his team" in the sense that he's the adult in the room and responsible for managing it. He's regularly talked about needing to get the team into their sets and such. What he needs to learn is that a lot of the time his most valuable role will be spacing for Zion and BI off ball.

CJ McCollum is a proven NBA player stop playing with his name
He’ll adjust his game and start attacking the rim, open up midrange game then his 3 will start falling and the fans will love him again.

That's probably the most logical outcome. Unless Father Time has come knocking

CJ adjustment to Fatherhood may be more of a factor on his current play than Father Time playing an issue.

@OlehKosel
CJ McCollum moved much more effortlessly, just showed greater energy in his pregame workout. Also, seemingly nearly every shot dropped.
Let's see if it translates.

I've said it over and over this season.
There is nothing to point to CJ losing a step. The only issue is the shot isn't going in.
That's why I'm not the least bit concerned.

Lol, if he can get me 13 pts and one assist I’ll live with this performance

No better barometer than a casual shoot around in warm ups with 0 defense
I can't stand people extrapolating that into a game situation
And it was posted by Oleh, the world's biggest Pelican sunshine pumper. Who would have thought
