First off, i love what CJ has done for our team and the city since he’s arrived. But I’m going to put into perspective how bad he has been to start of this season. Downvote away but these are the simple numbers:

CJ:
19.1 PPG, 40%, 29% from 3, 6 AST

Russell Westbrook
16.1 PPG, 43.6%, 32.5% from 3, 6 AST

As the 3rd option on the team, CJ has led the team in attempts in 9 out of 12 games (yes i know we’ve had injuries). Russ has led his team in attempts 0 times.

CJ and Willie need to figure out what his role on this team needs to be, and it can’t be chucking up low percentage shots like it has been. That’s the exact criticism Russ has received and we clown on he and the Lakers constantly.

I have faith because while he was figuring things out last year, he stayed out of the way and hit the timely shots when needed. For some reason we get a better scorer back this year, and CJ has become more selfish. Last year’s version of CJ would be the perfect fit for this team

He needs a night off and to reevaluate his offensive approach in this team. He’s third option, at best, end of discussion. And agreed, he’s done a ton in his short time here. But as a leader he needs to adapt to what’s best to help the team win. I hope he does.

Being a leader means doing what’s best for the team. If he cant understand that he’s actively hurting the team then he isn’t a leader

I gotta believe (hope) his injured finger is hurting him pretty bad because he's missing wide open 3s on a consistent basis and he's a career 39% shooter from 3.

This! CJ is playing like he is option 1 instead of deferring to Zion and Ingram.

i’m torn because i actually want the ball in CJs hands more if he would stop taking the contested shots he’s been taking. he knows how to position himself to get guys open better than anyone on the team with exception of maybe Jose.

watching BI and Trey step into a catch and shoot 3 is a beautiful sight. both tall enough that i’m fine with them being contested too.

just way too much iso ball from this team recently

Team made a big, big mistake thinking he was our point guard

We need a real point guard

I believe Dyson can be that guy. He’s really good in fast break transitions and PnRs. Maybe Kira Lewis too (even though we never saw his full potential)

He's just not a point guard man and never will be. He needs the ball out of his hands more. CJ is a great player but iso ball is what he wants and you can't have that in you PG.

Zion gets guys open better than anyone. On one possession AD highlighted early in the game, Zion had FIVE guys collapse on him. It's insane. He kicked it out and I think a wide open shot was missed but that's what he does. He is typically tripled teamed and this year his passing has clearly improved. Point Zion was a problem for defenses, it'd be even more of a problem now with his improved court vision.

Zion, Jose, and B.I. Those need to be your ball handlers and just let CJ be a great SG instead of a not great PG.

Woeful play from CJ has probably been the biggest problem so far

He used to run great numbers when Dame was out and he was the primary playmaker. Something is very amiss

Father time may have already snatched him

Nah. I doubt that. He’s forcing things. He’s in a slump and he’s also got the hurt finger. HOWEVER, having the ball in his hands so much isn’t going to work when he’s in the starting unit.

Part of our problem when the ball is primarily in his hands with our starting unit is that him and BI are kind of our only 3 point threats so it’s easy to account for our offense as long as teams build a wall for Zion and just run CJ off the line. Our offense, at least 60-70% of the time would be more effective if BI or Zion or even Jose were the main initiators. CJ can still ball handle and slash and make good plays and passes but his value is knocking down 3s especially with Zion in the game. He should be throwing up 7-10 a game.

And on the flip side of that, BI and Zion should average 20 shots a game, no less. Instead, CJ is firing up 7-10 3s with an additional 7-10 poor, low percentage mid ranges and piss poor drives to the basket when we don’t have enough shooters on the floor to make teams respect him driving to the hole.

If you are sick dont play. It's as simple as that. Everyone said this team is so deep. If your finger is hurt and you are sick, sit down.

I think Jose and some of those other guys can give you what he is giving.

at this point, Jose is the much better option at PG, b/c he's a true PG and he understands his role on this team...

I think we have one in BI. Now I know that makes people cringe thinking that a 6’8” cant be PG, but I want Ingram to have the ball in his hands more. Hell, im even down with Zion running point Zion in multiple sets. CJ is just built as an iso shooter so if shots arent falling, it hurts us. Id like a lot more off ball plays run for him instead of him wasting a half court set by not making a single pass.

IDk, both are a bit of a problem in that area right now

BI has his lowest assist numbers since being here and highest TOV per game.

I think he has fallen too much in love with his iso KD/Kobe aspect of his game and him and CJ are actively hurting the team at times
