Luxury tax penalty is $1.50 penalty/tax for each $1 spent over cap…spend $10 mill over cap and u pay extra $15 mill…penalty
May increase the higher u go in luxury.

new cba brings…
“The NBA is also implementing a second salary cap apron — $17.5 million over the tax line — and those teams will no longer have access to the taxpayer mid-level in free agency. Those changes will be eased into the salary cap over a period of years.”

No problem

2
Mark Williams
Future pick(s)
Not taking back Hayward

...is a great place to start the conversation.

Less than that and they can eat shite.

They were 10 games under .500 and beat a clippers team without kawhi/pg 13 to get in and then lost in 6 games to suns. But sure let’s forget all that context as well.

Who’s the one lacking context?? To be fair and accurate, you should examine what the record was when the trade was made to bring in CJ and Larry. To put it all on BI because he, essentially by himself (before CJ, Larry came, Jose emerged, Herb figured out the NBA, Trey became a productive player), couldn’t prevent a historically terrible start is totally lacking in context. What was their record after CJ and Larry came in is what he should be measured by. Totally disingenuous take.

we were a .500 team when CJ was traded here for the rest of the season. We were still average at best

I think what we’re getting at is this team as of now if just incredibly average and had a nice little run in December which has brainwashed all of your minds into thinking this roster is a title contender. When in reality, we’re not there. And we’re gonna be financially tied up for a while if we commit to this team and re-sign bi. Just feels like a bad investment.

Crazy that bi will make 47 mil.

I just don't see how cj doesn't get traded after this next year.

he’ll account for 30% of the cap for his next contract. It’s just reeks of a Bradley Beal/wizards issue all over again. Mediocrity with results and holding a “loyal” player too long as his trade value drops

Beal was extended as the #1 player to build around.

If we do that with BI, we're cooked. If he's the #2, that's fine.

But part of the issue is the money you don't receive from being a non luxury team. Meaning, if you go $2mil into the tax, you don't just lose $2mil or whatever they penalty is. You lose the payout of money distributed to all the non tax teams, which I think is around $17mil or so recently.

But those amounts will be going way down, because teams such as the Clippers and Warriors won't be able to spend what they used to spend.

16-17 with BI and no Zion last season. 36-46 the full season before.

We truthfully have not seen BI lead us to wins without Zion.

People keep ignoring that he's not a very efficient scorer, and he's a negative defender.

I really question if BI is good enough to be a legit #2 on a title team, though I'll admit he hasn't peaked yet.

The argument that he could be our #1 and we could have any kind of success? Dumb.

People are really discounting that Suns series where it took

Ayton shooting 70%, Paul having 3 outrageous games, including a 14-14 performance, CJ playing like shite all series, and the officiating handing the Suns game 6, for the Pels to lose without Zion.

Brandon Ingram is very good.

Or Ingram didn’t step up in Game 5 and/or 6. He had 22 and 21 points in the most critical games of the series. He played great in the 3 games before. I mean honestly you want ti pick out stuff to make your pount better. I could do the same on the other side of the argument.

I’ll bet they do, LOL. The superstar who plays over the one who barely plays. Tough decision.

Yeah, I don't base all my assessments on one playoff series.

Especially against a team that promptly lost in the next round to a weak Dallas team.

“for the Pels to lose without Zion.” Seems hard for the current BI haters/traders to sink in…Zion is the problem and the key to pels succes…25/6/6 is great #s from Bi… a 2…1B ish

And I kind of agree that bi isn’t a complete superstar. If he was putn those numbers up for a large market team, he would be. But he don’t like the lights of the big market…he wants to be here
