Bouknight and Moody are my top choices at 10. Sadly they both might not be there of course.

I think Moody will be. Teams just don't seem to be super high on him for some reason.

Bouknight could see a big rise and go top 7. I could see someone like Kuminga falling slightly with Barnes and Bouknight rising.

I agree.
I don't know what the appeal is for Kuminga. I could maybe see a team taking a chance on him if they have two picks, like Orlando. Other than them, i don't know who else would be interested in him, maybe the Kings at 9. I wouldn't draft him at 10.
He's 6'6" with a 7' wingspan. He's just an athlete. I thought he would be bigger, more Siakam size, but he's no where near that. Siakam is 6'9" with a 7'3" wingspan and is 25lbs heavier. Kuminga seems like a 3 at best, not someone who's going to play the 4, and if you're going to be a 3, you better be able to shoot and/or defend, and he doesn't do either of those well. His draft summary says he seems to have a low defensive IQ.

Kuminga and Moody are basically the same size and age. Why would i take Kuminga over Moody? I would agree that maybe Kuminga has a higher ceiling b/c of his athleticism, not that Moody's isn't high, but Kuminga has a much lower floor than Moody.

No way we draft someone like that considering we have mentioned already we are focusing on shooting and BBIQ going forward.

i know. And Moody is said to have a high BBIQ.
He's expected to be a plus defender, which is a big plus at his size, and he's someone who does better off the ball than on it, which i also like b/c i want the ball in BI and Zion's hands.

FWIW, I don't think us working out players tells us too much.

I don't think we worked out Jaxson, NAW or Kira to my knowledge.

They worked out Kira. The Atlanta trade was made hours before the draft so I can see why they didn't work those guys out sitting at 4.

That….and I’ve watched him play smart basketball…..I don’t want to watch another season of that nonsense on the court.

I feel like I heard before that we actually thought about taking Jaxon at 4 before the trade happened anyway because of his stretch and rim running potential. It just so happened that we were still able to get him with the trade back.

Supposedly one of our biggest points of emphasis this year will be Basketball IQ.

Obviously, we will find out fast if that is true.

If we stay 10 I hope it’s Bouknight or moody

Then I’m looking at guys like Giddey Kispert Johnson.

If we trade back into the 20s maybe I’ll take Davion Mitchell there

I would like Moody, Kispert, or Giddy at 10. I just can’t get excited about Bouknight. I feel like a scorer who doesn’t do it primarily from the outside isn’t what we need.

He can shoot. He shot 35% as a freshman, and had an elbow injury 3 games into the season that caused him to miss 6 games, and he only played 15 games this past year, which isn't a huge sample size. He shot lights out at the combine.

Murray shot 36% his first 4 years in the league, 41% this year. He shot 41% in college.
Booker is 35% in his first 6 years in the league. He shot 41% in college.
Mitchell is 36% in his first 4 years, steadily increasing each year up to 38% this year. He shot 25% then 35% in college from 3.
all were near or over 80% from the FT line, like Bouknight.

Sounds like a few of us are locked into Bouknight

It's never a bad idea to add someone who can create their own shots/buckets. Those type of skillsets are usually tougher to find compared to a spacer/spot up shooter.

Whoever we pick, I really hope they have ability to be a secondary ball handler and has shot creating abilities.

Bouk has talent and everything, but he really is 2 years away from being average. I see the Jamal comp from some aspects, but not on his actual jumpshot.

He’s 21% on catch and shoot 3’s

He can’t shoot a movement 3 off a screen or pindown to save his life

His shot release and footwork is almost different everytime.

Day 1- He would be Vinson’s biggest project on our roster

His usage is over 30% and he averaged 1.8 ast bc he has mind numbing tunnel vision.

Currently, he’s a horrible offball fit for Zion and BI. You basically have to reteach him how he sees the game if you want to be the 3rd or 4th option on the court. The best bet would be to give him the keys to the 2nd unit, surround him with shooters and hope he learns how to share the ball with the open man.

On the plus side, he is athletic and a good finisher. He shoots pull up 3’s at around 35%. He’s a reasonably good defender. He interviews well.

Personally, I’d take Moody. He’s a seamless fit. He’s taller and longer so he gives you more defensive versatility. Maybe his peak isn’t quite as high as Bouk, but his floor is a lot higher and his upside is still in the Middleton zip code, which is good enough for pick number 10.

Moody really is the perfect guy for us at 10. I just hope he's there when we pick and Griff doesn't screw it up.

Wouldn't you want to have a coach to get some input from him on what kind of player he wants?

If there's anyone I want in the 2nd round, then it's Quentin Grimes. Dude is gonna be a star in the league.

I am advocating for Herb Jones out of Alabama ....senior who could help right away, defends multiple positions. Same lack of offenseive production as Najeh had, but look how that worked out.

I have to look up this Herb Jones cat, but

Naji was the main offensive hub on Xavier for like 2 straight years mate. That’s why he’s able to play make and create his own shot and throw pinpoint passes to teammates better than we anticipated. He was the guy at Xavier.
