Out of curiosity? What did I say that you disagreed with?

I’m one of the more balanced people on this board in terms of not overvaluing our own players and undervaluing another team’s players.

Desmond Bane games played

2020-2021: 68 out of 72 games (season shortened). Plus 5 playoff games out of 5. 73/77 total: 94.8%

2021-2022: 76/82. 12/12 playoff games. 88/94 total: 93.6%

2022-2023: 58/82. 6/6 playoff games. 64/88 total: 72.7%

2023-2024: 42/82- 51.2%

2024-2025: 69/82. 4/4 playoff games. 73/86 total: 84.8%

Career: 340/427- 79.6%. Excludes credit for several play in games

Trey Murphy

21/22: 62/82. 6/6 playoffs. 68/88 total: 77.2%

22-23: 79/82. 96.3%

23/24: 57/82. 4/4 playoffs. 61/86 total: 70.9%

24/25: 53/82. 64.6%

Total: 261/338: 77.2%

If you want to be generous to Trey, you can call their health a dead heat since some of Trey’s rookie year he was simply benched. Even still, Bane is still better in many categories with the exception of dunking the ball.

Can we get 5 seconds and a pick swap option in 2050 for the Pillsbury Dough Bust?

Great trade for Orlando.

East is wide open next year. They feel like their best five can play against Indiana, Cleveland, and New York’s. Try to make a run while both Boston and Milwaukee are down with injured stars.

Outside of the Phoenix pick they didn’t give up too much.

When can teams start making trades, or is just something that can't be completed for a few weeks?

It's weird the Finals are still going and teams are making trades.

I kinda do think that it makes Orlando the favorite in the East.

You stated Bane is a healthier player than Trey, and that's just not true the last 3 years, as i very simply and shortly stated.

And while i think he is a better player than Trey, slightly, I'd take Trey and his 3 years at $29m/yr average contract over Bane's 4 years at $41m/yr contract. Bane is paid like the 2nd best player on a team, and he's not capable of being the 2nd best player on a championship contender, much like BI. Those are the types of contracts that prevent you from truly competing at the highest level more often than not, just like OG and his contract. Not saying you can't win a championshp with them, b/c they are great players to have on a champiionship team, but you're going to have a short window and a big time tax bill more than likely if you're actually competing for a championship with that contract and player.

Teams that are done can make trades now, and they are still on the books for this year, sort of. If you remember last year when we talked about trading for KAT, it had to be done before that fiscal season ended to make the salaries work, and you can't trade players who's contract is expiring that year. I'm pretty sure it has to be completed before the fiscal year/season ends, which i think is whatever is the last day of the finals, but i'm not sure on that.

Strange this is on the Pelicans board.

Pelicans are often the Memphis side in this scenario and end up doing nothing with the picks but draft average to good players while their previous star does so much more elsewhere.

Picks are purely hypothetical, while their previous star player is a known commodity.

Bane is exactly what Orlando needed. A player who can open up the floor for Wagner and Banchero while also bringing the defense that Orlando has built their identity on. A Bane and Suggs backcourt might be the best two way backcourt in the NBA outside of OKC.

The question for Orlando now is if they are willing to be a tax and apron team and if they are, for how long? Their window pretty much depends on their willingness to pay the tax. Banchero will get the supermax this summer and make them very expensive next year.

and that’ll revolve around how successful the team is. Like every other teams situation. More teams need to take gambles like this or else you’ll wind up like the pelicans

Phoenix and Milwaukee took big swings and missed. Griff was still waiting for what he thought was the right opportunity to take the big swing. I wonder if Dumars will be so patient.
