Ibaka? He is a great weak side shot blocker with lots of work to do on ball, help positioning, and pnr defense.

Davis might be as good his rookie year.

no, I think his floor is probably Marcus Camby. A career 10-10 guy and good-great defender but never really took the step to become a great player.

Ibaka is his greatest comparison right now. Call me crazy, but I think Perkins is just as good a defender as Ibaka due to the fact that Ibaka is not very good at post defense (he is a near elite weakside defender, though)

Perkins + Ibaka would be an elite defender.

I don't think he has the physical ability to become a mega-elite defender like Olajuwon, though.

Best case defensively is Garnett/Chandler.

Big enough to bang one on one, quick enough to cover guards on high pnr, and then smart enough positionally to be the anchor of a great defensive team.

How do you compare a PF with a C. Davis can't live under the goal if he has to guard PFs.

Position has nothing to do with it. How many true back to basket 5s are there in the NBA? I bet I can name just as many at the 4.

Davis will play some 5. If you don't want to believe that, then think of him as a PF the way Tim Duncan has been a PF. Hell KG has been playing the 5 for the last few months in Boston.

Chandler doesn't live under the goal. Probably his best defensive attribute is his ability to stay with guards on pnr plays. Most teams screen with a 4/5 specifically to exploit the slow footed defensive big man. Davis showed exceptional ability to do the same thing at UK.

As far as bigs go, I think Perkins, Garnett, Howard, and Ibaka are all better. I'd put him in the next class with Noah.

Perkins? Not even worth debating stupid points like that.

They shouldn't be playing 5 though.KG is only playing because they don't have a 5.

I will admit ur right that they have the same skill to defend guards well on pnr plays. Just Chandler is not as athletic as Davis and I think Davis's defense will be much more thought through than Chandlers is now.

Ok RC Buford

Perkins has been looked at as one of the best defenders in the league for years now.

I just read a poll of NBA GMs a few days ago about who the best interior defenders in the league were. Howard won. Perkins, Garnett, and Bogut were the only others to get votes

And he is downright awful against the pick and roll.

To be fair, unibrows turned me on long before Anthony Davis

I agree. That's why I think a Garnett/Chandler hybrid is his defensive ceiling.

Davis has to be the best defensive prospect since Duncan to enter the NBA.

It's been so long that I really don't remember how I perceived Duncan at WF. But I have to say Davis impresses the everloving crap out of me for a college freshman.

Why are you guys so worried about Davis offensively? He lead a team that had 6 players with 10+ ppg in scoring while only taking the 4th most FG's on the team.

True a lot of those were dunks but Davis has some beautiful post moves along with a left handed hook.
