Benson wants to buy the Times Picayune

Newhouse has already turned down the overture from Benson, per tweets from a writer for the Times-Pic and Lee Zurik, a NO based TV reporter. Bring on the Advocate!

Benson should just start a daily paper. Everyone would drop their subscription to the TP and buy into his. Even those that never read the papers before. It'd be a matter of local pride.

Tommy B and I havent always been best friends (dont think I forgot that whole San Antonio fiasco mon) but I like the movements he has been making. Hopefully he can pay off state congress and legalize marijuana.

Newhouses don't want to sell the New Orleans elite already tried to buy it or convince them to sell it to no avail. frick the Newhouses.
I did say earlier I think Benson would try and buy and hopefully convince them, of the Gambit turns into our daily paper if someone helps with the upfront capital.

1. Do people really care for local papers using their forum to criticize our teams? I think it has been really bad for LSU and don't think it is needed to bash the Saints/Hornets.
2. We don't need journalist as "watchdogs" for sports and the fans. This isn't politics that could have a direct effect on laws passed. It is just sports.
While you could make the case it is a conflict of interest what is the real reasons to have sports writers as watchdogs over our teams actions?
