Are you expecting a gradual increase in success next year? Even as tough as the West is, would anybody be really happy with start of season expectations being a playoff bubble team again? Or do you expect a fully healthy Pels team be in the middle tier of playoff teams with the Dallases and Utahs?

Honestly? As long as Alvin is here I’m not sure if this team will ever meet expectations.

Good luck selling those season tickets
IF we can't sell season tickets at the prices they'll be next season with a good young core and freaking Zion, then we really don't deserve a franchise in New Orleans.

If your location is accurate, I am assuming you are not one of those buying?

Correct, and it changes absolutely nothing about the point I am making.

If we expect to have a generational/all time talent and a contending team but don't want to pay market rate to watch them, then no, we absolutely do not deserve a team.

Another point, in the previous thread, most everyone complaining had cheap tickets. They were paying like $6 a ticket, which is absurdly cheap. No one complained about the cheap rates but then they complained about season tickets at $14 per ticket, which is still pretty darn cheap if you asked me.

This is economics 101. The Pelicans literally won the lottery which accelerated the rebuild timeline allowing them to implement a price increase next season that would have taken years to approach without Zion.

That’s not what happened though. Most ticket increases were normal. It is a small section of Uber cheap tickets that they brought in line with the rest of the NBA (and supposedly pre-Benson costs).

The problem with those tickets are that they are so cheap that people have no qualms about skipping games. My ticket increased less than 4%.

Mine went up 8% but I am ok with that as long as they do not start with the annual increases (that get larger each year) as the Saints have done lately.

Just seems odd (and a bit judgmental) to say "we" don't deserve a team when you are not contributing to the purchasing of the tickets.

That's a pretty shitty take if you truly believe that.

Unless you can say absolutely that you moved to New Orleans so you can attend Pelicans games, then you just have more luck in that you randomly live closer to SKC than I do. Nothing more.

And what i'm saying is pretty logical, I'd ask you why should we deserve the team if the place is half empty because we have market rates on ticket prices and these fans are demanding to pay cheap rates while simultaneously demanding a good product? Honest question, is that NOT a logical take by me?

If people are paying the hiked up prices, then they made the right move.

Sucks for people like myself who can't afford ridiculous ticket prices, but I can't fault the organization for making more money, even if it's not mine.

How can you say "we" don't deserve a franchise if you are not part of the "we?"

A whole lotta company men in here defending this ridiculous increase for a team that is ten games below .500 and that has won 2 playoff series in its history. Sad.

Ultimately I think they probably are shooting too high, too fast, but the thing is if they are, prices will come back down, incentives driven back up, or stagnate where they are until demand equalizes out.

It sucks for those that are potentially caught in a situation where the team is pushing too fast, but ultimately, if this team is successful, prices are likely going to rise much more then they are now in the long-term. Which is the catch with season tickets. Success doesn’t come cheap.

I'm not saying anyone should be happy about the price increases, but there are people in here acting like they don't understand why this is happening. Zion is a ticket selling machine that gives the team the leverage it needs to increase prices without fear of chasing away fans. Also, the team has invested quite a bit in its infrastructure this year and made quite a few high caliber front office and coaching staff additions to try and build a winner which no doubt makes the price increase necessary from the team's perspective.

They changed the prices on the cheapest of cheapest tickets and they are still cheaper than most NBA arenas. Sorry you can go to the game for 6 bucks and it’s now 14. It’s going to be okay.

That's not really the point.

The Arena had like 6,000-7,000 people Thursday night against the 6-seed in the West.

The Saints didn't raise prices until after they had success with the argument that it would allow them to sustain. This is the opposite mentality. This is blind trust in an organization that hasn't proven itself to be trustworthy.

Then don’t buy tickets. I renewed the first day I could. It’s capitalism.
