Anyone notice the lack of publicity surrounding the Pelicans brand?

The Pelicans name was introduced at that presser on January 24th. There was buzz both on the internet and real life for a few days following that. Since then the talk has died down and I don't know if the general New Orleans population gives a rat's arse about the team.

A few CSBs that happened in the last week alone:

-I went to get a set of keys made for some new tenants in one of my rentals. The hardware store has a bunch of customizable keys from random designs to LSU to Saints and even had Hornets. I asked when they were getting Pelicans and the person working didn't even know what the Pelicans were.

-I went to Cold Stone last night and they had a custom made Fleur De Bee birthday cake but no Pelicans baked goods.

-I've been asking local bars if I could have their Hornets/Bud Light bar light. I keep getting the response "whenever we get the Pelicans one" but no one knows when that will be.

Winning will brings fans, but they need to advertise more. Billboards throughout the city, radio and television spots, etc...

My one glimmer of hope is I have seen a few people wearing Pelicans t-shirts while out.

They rushed the rollout to make it happen this year instead of next year. It's not surprising that there's not a unified marketing push. I saw an article in the last week or 2 where Hugo had made a public appearance and an article a few months ago said that Hugo would still be doing things this summer.

Shiit they don't even have a jersey yet lol. I feel like after that, we'll see more of the team and the logo.

I bought a Pelicans shirt yesterday in BR at Academy and sported it all day. I wish they would come out with some more merchandise though. :inb4CSB:

Hugo was at Wednesday in the Square last week. They had the Hornets van.

It's like Panic! At the Disco dropping the ! in their name. The output didn't change.

There are no games for people to talk about so no one is talking about them.

Maybe you can start a grass roots campaign at Ms Mae's? Just what would go in a Pelican shot?

Things will pick up soon enough with the introduction of uniforms, mascot, dance team, etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see some new apparel out soon too.

I do agree with Fear though, I've seen a lot more people wearing Pelicans stuff around BR than I ever saw wearing Hornets stuff

This is NOLA's team.
Get the rappers to rap about it. Bust a cap.

When they selling shirts, caps, stickers at da Walmart then you will actually see it everywhere.

This

The only time I remember a rap song mentioning the Hornets was when Curren$y had a track talking about fricking one of the player's wife

I've seen a lot of Pelicans shirts since I got home from school. I would rarely see a Hornets shirt anywhere the past 10 years but Pelicans shirts are everywhere.

For some reason I always envisioned that it was Posey he was talking about.

Eta: and curren$y mentions the hornets in a few of his other songs too.
