Reminds me of a story:
As a young kid growing up, Zion apparently admired Anthony Davis. As he continued to improve as a player, it was opening doors in the amateur development circuit all the good young players get involved in. Eventually, as those things go, Zion and some of his teammates had the chance to meet AD, apparently, he and others wanted his autograph....AD refused to sign autographs that day.
Zion has expressed how that experience has shaped his sense of obligation as a player toward those coming up after him, as he saw how devastated some of his peers were over that. That if he were to be so lucky to be in the position AD was to make a dream come true for young fans looking up to him, he would make different choices.
Fast forward to the draft and Zion is taken 1st overall. Even perennial haters like Bill Simmons are giddy and can't understand how AD wouldn't want to play with such a dynamic young player and the most underrated guard in Jrue Holiday...AD once again shuns Zion.
....So me personally, I just like the thought that Zion gets to start the NBA process of being the better man in front of the guy that motivated him to do so.
