The more I see/hear from ad I’ll be surprised if he leaves. He honestly seems super happy here, He seems like he’d rather fly under the radar which you can’t get much more under the radar than with the pels, and were doing everything to make him happy. Honestly the only thing that would surprise me at this point is if Chicago came in hot if/when he is a free agent since it’s his home and everything but man I just don’t see him leaving.

Does he genuinely want things to work out here? No doubt. The breaking point for AD, if it ever comes, will be after a playoff defeat where he feels he'll never win a championship here and thinks he could if he went somewhere else.

It will be interesting to see how the new SuperMax extension changes things. I think AD will stay long enough to get that for sure, but will making $40 million per year make him untradeable? At the very least you'd think the team that trades for him would be forced to send back a star quality player, maybe 2 just to match salaries.

I don’t think so. Even if he signs the super max, mainstream media heads are still going to be making up stories about how he wants out or a sign and trade. It literally doesn’t matter what he does.

Sign and trade wont happen.
AD will be eligible for supermax on July 1st. If he wont agree for a deal he will be traded. Cause it will mean that he will decline his PO and will become a UFA in 2020.
We will know everything in a year...

AD will sign the extension next summer. Doesn’t mean he’ll stay long term but it should buy us another season or two to make sure this team is legit

If he signs the DPE, he can't be traded for a year.

ETA: several teams have opted to not sign players to the DPE, but no player has turned down a DPE when offered. Unless AD has some horrific injury this season, I don't see how he isn't offered the DPE.

AD did an interview not too long ago talking about how making money is very important to him.

He's signing the supermax without a doubt, and once that happens, it's almost impossible to trade someone making that much. He'd have to pull a kawhi, and while AD is quiet and all, he wouldn't want to take that kind of hit to his reputation.

A team would have to have a good bit of cap space, as well as some legit players to send back in an uneven trade for it to be close to possible.

Any team in the league would still trade for him if available, even on the supermax. He’s the most valuable asset in the NBA based on his age and talent. It will depend on if this team can add enough next to him to at least be a contender. I think they’ll have 2-3 years to do it.

Agree that he should sign his supermax.
And the music wont stop. It will be just harder for others to match his $39M salary.

You just give him anything he wants. PO. No options . Trade kicker. Even no-trade clause.
Just re -sign him. Stay competitive so that Pels can remain in NO.

If he wants to leave we'll just trade of all Boston for him.

ALL OF IT

I've got way too much time on my hands today but I see a great Game of Zones episode here that could write itself.

I'm hoping to see a Clegane Bowl type episode with AD as The Hound and Cousins as The Mountain.

Kerr (Qyburn) ressurects him but Evil Jrue (Arya) ends him instead because AD has too much honor to destroy an has been that wouldnt put up much of a fight.

Durant the Sell Sword, after seeing the Pelicans wiping out the entire league during the regular season, promises to switch allegiances to the Pels after the season. Our Faceless Forward (Randle/Mirotic) goes on to destroy him.

Warrior's then bend the knee to the Pels.

We learn that all along AD (The Hound) was the Prince That Was Promised.

The House of Pelicans begin their dynasty.
