Last night, I think we saw what Gentry has been trying to do all along. Somehow the team finally got the message: ball movement, aggressiveness and timely defense. Protect the ball.

I’m not crowning him for 1 game. You’re better than this old man

Yeah, this X 10. Sorry, but can't believe he's still coaching the Pels. He's beaten the Cavs at home regularly so this is proof of nothing IMHO.

It definitely seems like the team is buying in or has had an attitude shift. The way we blew a huge lead but then fought back against the Lakers...the way we were getting blown out by the Kings then fought back for the win...the way we let the Cavs back in to take the lead in the 3rd then took over again. Last night when we gave up the lead then pulled ahead by around 5, I turned to my son and said, "We need just a 6 or 7 point run to put this away." Literaly right after I said that, we had a 10-2 run, with the first 8 of that 10 being all from AD. The Cavs pretty much conceded after that run. I'm accustomed to us blowing leads, but bouncing back late in 3 of the past 4 games feels good. I think the team's confidence level is the highest it's been in years. Can't freaking wait til Rondo is back. At all times we'll have a true point guard and at least one of AD and Boogie on the court.

People act like the coaches strategies are stupid if the players do stupid things on the court. I guarantee you Gentry has been trying to get this stuff to happen since he’s been here. What matters is the morons on the court figuring out how to not be morons anymore. I think we are seeing progress. This quote from Boogie was kind of encouraging.

quote:

On sharing the basketball: “We are just starting to understand what it takes to win games. Everybody on the floor is touching the ball, it’s not being stuck on one side of the floor. That was kind of our issue in the beginning, especially when it came to random situations. We would just keep it on one side of the floor and it made other teams’ job easier to guard us. So, we are understanding that and we are in a good rhythm.”

See that word random? Finch has mentioned random as part of his philosophy so coaching credit might belong to Finch as much as anyone, but again, it’s up to the players to execute.

Finch is the type of coach I could see leading some coaching searches in the next year or two, especially if we have success building an offense around Cousins and Davis with this supporting cast.

I'm hoping this is it. Maybe between injuries and the Boogie trade they just haven't figured it out yet but are starting too. Better ball movement would be huge for us. That and Jrue playing like a true sg!

great post

I'm encouraged by the effort on offense last nite and the noticeable lack of iso-boogie.
he's gonna bullrush the basket a few times a game and that's ok as long as there's the threat of a pass

Gentry's decision to have AD and Boogie start the 4th with Lebron resting was brilliant. And no, it wasn't a decision any other good coach would do. In fact, they would use that time to buy their stars rest normally. But Gentry stepped on the Cavs throats there. Brilliant.

He has flaws, like 27 other coaches in the league. He did dumb things last night, like putting Allen on Green instead of Wade. But you guys can't pick and choose. That was a brilliant call that won the game for the Pels. Credit where its due.

agree

sports message boards are notorious. Coaches and quarterbacks(or the equivalent) are "bums 90% of the time.

there were cavs homers in the seats next to me, thankfully they actually knew basketball. They said the same thing

I kept thinking there's no way he's playing them the rest of the way
they stomped out the win and it was nice to see
great coaching move for a team that needed confidence
