Congrats on your new coach! He's a great guy and he really really really cares about how close the locker room is and how all of the players love each other in that locker room so you guys will have a very tight team.

What do I mean by this? Whenever he was asked tough questions in Orlando he would always flip the script to how close the locker room is and that's all that matters while avoiding the hard questions. I lived through it for 5 years

Best of luck with this dude

We had this with Willie Green.

Did he say give the other team "credit" alot?

Did he struggle to talk basketball adjustments

I did not have a problem with in game coaching decisions.. sure, some stupid substitutions here and there but that's not what bothered me

Well actually, now that I think about it.. we always blew games coming out of halftime.. for example, we would be up by 20 points at half and come out of halftime allowing teams to go on a 20-0 run.. this did happen an awful lot of times during his term

What bothered me was how and what he did outside of the games and in practices, etc. He was just too damn soft but never held players accountable for being lazy.. coming into a new season very out of shape, etc etc etc.

Since this is mostly a football forum.. to put things into perspective.. imagine having a decent in game coach but allowed his players to jerk around and do jack shite during spring and weekly practices and just allowed them to run the asylum

Paolo (one of our best players) couldn't stand him because he was too soft of a coach and his practices, conditioning, discipline, etc was severely lacking and when dealing with basketball players at that age, they need some sort of discipline and accountability outside of games

Good thing the Pelicans don’t have any lazy fatasses on the team then…

As expected.

They hired Willie Green 2.0.

At least with Willie nobody knew what we were getting as a coach before he failed. We skipped that stage and just went to the failed version

I guess you have to be a Pels fan to understand the irony.
But from what you have described it does sound like we have Willie 2.0.
I hope that at least he doesn't start every press conference with "Thank God, first and foremost..."

This is just lazy analysis. Coaches get better and evolve, like players. Sometimes they need a change of scenery, or organization to develop new systems and mentalities. Maybe he takes his faults and deficiencies from Orlando, and improves. You know, learn from experience. That's just normal. It's not one shot and you are out.

I am totally on board with hiring him, and excited to see how he builds the culture. I appreciate he didn't perform up to hopes and expectations. But most people don't. It's odd to follow him to other places to try and sabotage his future prospects. It's not a good look..

I think you would hear these complaints from fans of every team that doesn’t have the trophy…

I've been in favor of this hiring since it was rumored a long time back. It sets the stage for the rebuild, which should be our next step..

Thanks, you came in good faith so you couldn’t have known this but we just basically suffered several years under a guy just like Mosley in Willie Green but I hope I’m wrong and he’s just what we need. I’m skeptical to say the least.

I'd assume even an Orlando fan would get the reference(Zion).

You should sign off and never return to the Pelicans Board if you dont get the point.

Ahh yes, the classic I don't like the coach so I'm going to extremely exaggerate the things. Looks like he allowed 20-0 or more runs three times in his career there. Only one of them was shortly after halftime. But sure, they did it an awful lot.

naaaah.. he is much better than Willie Green. NOLA severely needs a culture change within the organization and demoralized fanbase and y'all picked the right man for the job. He will change the culture of the franchise in a very positive way, but will lose a lot of stupid (should have won) games will doing so

I’m going to choose to be optimistic. I was a Never Ham guy so I hope they can turn this around.

The Pels have been pros at this for years no so he’ll fit right in.
