A game they win with those two would probably look like a cripple fight, with the other team trying desperately to tank and failing.

I think it’s funny Rob Pelinka’s name is damn near spelled like Pelican.

I think that the Lakers might try to trade a couple of 2nd-round picks and get someone halfway decent who could shoot. The problem with that idea is that they'd still have to send out salary.

I don't know the contract details, but could they trade Pat Bev, Lonnie Walker, or Kendrick Nunn?

Lakers are 33/148 from 3 this season. The worst 4 game span by any team ever from 3.

They'll probably find shooting through trades or some random guy in the gleague but their defense will suffer mightily for it. They're in a no win situation with no assets to make the moves they want to make.

Hits and misses. It happens to every organization. Missing on those two suck, but hitting on herb, Dyson, and TM makes it okay. Had we continued to shite the bed, oh god….

I don’t think they will continue to be this awful, unless AD or lebron get hurt.

It's not a matter of if... but when

And as the losses mount... the chances of it being a "significant injury" to the point of "shutting them down" goes higher & higher

the 4 worst have the same chance at #1.
5th worst is nearly same as the 4 worst.

so any bottom 5 laker finish is a good one for pels. luck be a lady.

Nunn is tradable on paper.

I think Bev has to be on the roster at least 30 days to be tradable.

Walker isn’t tradable until the date when signed players can be moved. And he has veto rights as a single year contract guy, as he loses any Bird rights by being traded.

I’m totally okay with Jonas going all eastern euro gangster and bullying the frick out of him. frick a foul. You got 6 of em. Place 4 in his back.

Then, that is something that the Lakers will do. They will trade one or both of these guys, plus several 2nds, to get a shooter to improve the team.

Nunn isn't giving them much of anything right now. Pat Bev is playing good defense (and that's a big part of why the Lakers' defense has actually been good so far this season), but he's expendable, given the circumstances.

They can always buy more 2nds later for cash. This is their path to avoiding 0-82.

Year 1 Griff outside of the Lakers trade was rough.

Had we just taken Garland though, yeah, the Lakers trade would look even more exceptional from our perspective even before what could end up being a top 5 pick this year.

If we end up with Scoot or Wemby....hoo boy, not sure that whole "it was worth it cause we got a championship" will even comfort the most dedicated Lakers fans any longer

If the pels win a title it will go down as one of the worst trades in nba history.

Honestly it already should go down as a huge L for the Lakers.

I know few will acknowledge it due to the way the media and fandom works, but the Lakers could have easily just waited out a season and took AD as a S&T or outright and the Lakers would be a dynasty right now.

But they not only had all the leverage and gave up a soon-to-be allstar, and a haul of picks, in doing so it really locked them out from ever building a deep enough team to age gracefully. They got a ring, but when you look at the oppurtunity costs, they went about it in the dumbest way despite obvious alternative pathways with just a little patience.

By the way, here's a good Sporting News article on Amen and Auren Thompson.

LINK

I like this bit:

Amen has the talent to go No. 1 in a normal draft

Even if we miss out on Wembanyama and Scoot, getting #3 doesn't sound bad at all.

We're going to be running 5 wings on the floor at this rate.

I do like both of them, though I have to say, I am a little tired of getting guards/wings where we have to tell ourselves: hopefully Vinson can fix their shot!

Trey was such a breath of fresh air in that regard....but not like I would complain if Amen is BPA #3 and we have that pick lol

I mean, feels like how the playoffs are trending toward in half the matchups at this rate.
