id love to discuss his objections
He is who he is. In Gentry's first year they tried to get Tyreke to play a different style and Tyreke went on the record and basically said "I need to play my style to be effective, so that's what I'm going to do." I suspect it's something like that. No doubt there is ego/believing he's a starter involved too.

I still blame Dell for overpaying for Tyreke, who fricked our spacing and cost us assets in Vasquez and Sideshow Rob Lopez.
Given our 3pt shooting woes, bringing in a guy with NO range as the point was just fricking stupid.

As the article in The Athletic pointed out, Allen Iverson was the same way at the end of his career: unwilling to adapt his game to win.
As I said earlier, Carmelo needed to sit out a year before he was able to adjust his mindset to do that.
These guys are stars. Westbrook is a star, a first-ballot Hall of Fame guy. He wants the ball in his hands.
As Norma Desmond says in Sunset Boulevard, "The stars are ageless, aren't they?"

Gentry was all about playing fast, and Tyreke would insist on walking the ball up the court. I screamed at the TV a lot back then.

what was the phrase he always used? "young veterans"?
Dell was the only GM in the league that was excited to dish out 2nd contracts to young guys that flashed potential but hadn't established themselves yet
he must be salivating at the thought of Jaxson Hayes hitting the open market

before the season it was suggested by someone on Get Up that Westbrook should run the 2nd team.

how's that gonna work with Lebron playing 44 minutes a game

Good luck with that. Scott Brooks was long criticized in OKC for not staggering Westbrook/Durant. After he left it came out that staggering those 2 was never going to happen. I got the impression the push back was from both of them, not one specifically.

good one. I wonder what the o/u is for LeBron games missed, whether rest or injury.
he avg 37 minutes last year for 56 games.
he has had 42 minutes avg his 2nd and 3rd year.
not in a decade.

Was pretty obvious Rivers was going to be what he was going to be... especially if you followed his HS and AAU runs...
after his pels career he has done a great job under daddy being a nice role guy at his diff spots.
But yes, wasting a lotto pick on him

the lakers are a pathetic clown show
spot on
No matter who is there..... they will always be this way.
Especially to the common fan and the media. Socials just accelerate it all even more these days...

Man let’s pray the Lakers are bad again this year. GG Jackson reclassified to 2022 today. He was a top 2 player in 2023s class. This draft class looks really really strong this year as of now. A good chunk of kids with superstar potential.

The big takeaway from this article (aside from the obvious "Don't let LeBron be your GM" take) is that going to the Lakers is bad for your future career prospects.

All those guys are way over 30 and are hanging on to stay in the league. They were lucky to get signed to play anywhere. Almost all of them should retire. How did playing for the Lakers hurt them?

Playing for the Lakers made them all look like they should retire.
To spell it out: lots of them had other options last season. Some went to the Lakers because they stupidly believed that they'd have a real shot at a ring. If they had gone somewhere else, they might have been used effectively and gotten another contract this season.
