I would bet that Gayle has told Griffin that she would like for us to trade Jaxson.
We know that Gayle wants our players to be role models, and first with the "NBA can suck my dick" and then with the arrest and charges filed, I feel confident in saying that Jaxson isn't representing the team in ways that she wants.
It's been obvious that, in a deal for either McCollum or Fox, we're dealing Hart and Sato for sure, and then we're including either Jaxson or NAW, and then picks of some kind.
With the way Jaxson has played lately, I know that most of us would rather keep him than Nickeil, but I think that Gayle wants to trade Jaxson, and I think that Nickeil is great in the locker room and everyone likes him (and I've never heard anyone say that about Jaxson), so I feel confident that we're more likely to send Jaxson out.
The way that he is playing makes Jaxson a more valuable chip, though, lessening the pick compensation we have to include in whatever deal happens.
Probably more likely that she doesn't know Jaxson's name

Philly says no for reasons you gave. Kings say no because they’d want more.
Hart/Jax/3FRP for Fox and Huerter makes me uncomfortable, so I guess that means it’s close to fair value. My only problem is that the cost is high enough that it essentially is the final real move you can make. So how far does Fox, Herb, BI, Zion, Val, Huerter, Graham, Trey, and Kira take you? If you can get CJ for Hart+Sato+Scraps, then does CJ, Herb, BI, Zion, Val, Hayes, Graham, Trey, Kira, and 3 FRP take you farther?

Yeah some of y’all swear Gayle is like Jerry Jones. She leaves personnel decisions to the front offices.

I don't know what's sadder-- that you probably actually think this, or that it got five upvotes.

Report: Philadelphia 76ers wanted both De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton from Sacramento Kings for Ben Simmons
Is Morey screwing with everyone or just nuts?
Posted on 2/6/22 at 3:13 pm to TigerinATL
if Ben hadn’t melted down in the playoffs I don’t think that’s outrageous. Although the two of them together hasn’t really worked in sacto. Maybe they’d make maxey available
Posted on 2/6/22 at 3:15 pm to cgrand
But he did melt down, and then he sat out a year. Morey is trying to charge 2019 prices on an asset that has clearly declined the last 2 years.

I will admit I think Halliburton is overrated as a prospect (he's good but not in rarefied air) and I probably overrate Fox b/c I'm biased b/c we may get him....but yeah that's insane. The way most NBA pundits talk, Haliburton > Simmons.
Posted on 2/6/22 at 3:21 pm to TigerinATL
maybe so but 2019 price on Ben Simmons is a lot more than a point guard who can’t shoot and a 2nd year prospect. If I were sacto I’d certainly consider that depending on how they want to team-build. In that scenario buddy becomes much more valuable to them

Cleveland is acquiring Caris LeVert in a trade, sources tell ESPN.

That’s a good pickup for the Cavs.

Lol Cavs and Pacers play each in an hour and a half
Posted on 2/6/22 at 3:33 pm to FireGoodell
Great trade for the Cavs. 1st and 2 2nds.

Full trade: Indiana sends Caris LeVert and a 2022 second-round pick via Miami to Cleveland for Ricky Rubio, lottery-protected 2022 first-round pick, 2022 second-round pick via Houston and a 2027 second-round pick via Utah, per sources.
Way less than the 2 1sts they wanted
Thats hilarious, i wonder if Caris suits up for Cleveland tonight?

Hope Griffin is paying attention to the trade market.
Powell and RoCo went for a subway sandwich.
Levert went for an expiring contract, a protected 1st and a couple 2nds.
Don't be dumb Griffin.

Future announcement: NOP have traded three barely protected first rounders, Trey Murphy, Jaxson Hayes, and filler to Sac for D Fox
Or replace D Fox with McCollum.
I’m being a bit hyperbolic…but probably not that much. Griff’s playing with house money and I don’t think he ever works again as a GM if he loses this job anyways, but unlike Demps, I don’t hear anything about anyone higher up handicapping his moves. Literally the worst situation I would want to allow my GM to be in.

To Griffin’s credit he has made it clear to other teams that the Pels have options so lower your price. But what we all fear is Griff won’t take the best deal he shakes lose because he has fixated on a single player, and he will pay whatever the ultimate price is to get that guy.
Posted on 2/6/22 at 3:58 pm to Bronc
LOL. You keep pretending that Griff is about to get fired, and there's zero reason to think that, except that you want it to happen.
He's got a rapidly improving young team that's going to make the postseason without its best player, and you are actually pretending that we are still 1-12.

too bad Rubio is hurt I’m sure they’ll buy him out

We’ve won 38% of our games, you all need to stop with this silliness of trying to leave out context to frame us as greater than we currently are.
And I didn’t say Griff is absolutely certainly pending being fired, but the reports out of the off-season are that ownership is not pleased with where we are, and anyone that watched the passive aggressive and tense conference with Loomis/Gayle and Griff should see that in action, to go with all the chatter in city and around the league that suggests a hot seat. You can shade it like you always do with rose colored glasses, but nothing I said was incorrect. Even if not on the hottest of seat, Griff is seeing this process in a much shorter term view than most GM’s with similar situations are, and that is setting the conditions for a willingness to part with more assets than many GM’s probably would be willing.
Griff has his moments and hopefully this trade deadline is one of the few where he gets it right, but if history is our guide chances are better than not that the result leaves a lot to be desired.
