Making a trade now is selling low.

Nickeil is already "improving" his value. NetRtg on the season is -4.8, in the last 10 games it is -1.1.

Jaxson had gone from -4.0 on the season to +3.5 in the last 10 games and I suspect he'll get even better if he plays at PF.

Lose enough to keep your pick. Keep rehabbing NAW and Jax. Make a move this summer when you'll have about 2.5 more C assets than you have if you overpay for CJ today and make the playoffs. If overpaying for CJ is still the best move available this summer, at least you're better able to pay for it.

I feel like the Jazz are going to blowup their roster this off season, not Mitchell but everyone else will be up for grabs.

Agree. The season is pretty much done. The only moves we should be making are dumping Sato and maybe using the Melli TPE if someone comes available for a 2nd or 2.

Mitchell could very well ask for a trade at that point.

Boston want to dump Schroeder

Only making 6 mil and we can asborb into TPE. Should only cost a few seconds.

Should we?

The toxic locker-room guy? Why would we do that?

depressing.

seems likely without even trying.
just let tm3 naw and hayes run together 20 minutes as the first off bench.
they improve. you assess.
they either turn the season around or dig down into the decent % at a top4 pick.

I dont see that happening. They were the 1 seed last year and its too early to say what they will do this year, especially if they make moves at the trade deadline.

How many teams completely blow up a roster after finishing as the #1 and #3/4 seed in back to back seasons? Not many. Unless getting rid of Conley, Ingles, Bojan (FA) and some other 30+ year old guy is considered blowing it up.

If you completely blow it up, what, you hope to be a #1-4 seed when your reconstructed? Like what they already have been. Plus I highly doubt that is what Mitchell would like.

Utah isn't the type of organization to blow things up especially while they are fielding competitive teams. They may make some moves to cut cost but they are in no way, shape, or form blowing up anything unless they plan to fire Quinn which isn't happening.

Is it crazy id want Powell over CJ considering the cost?

Powell is under contract 4 more years and can be taken with the TPE(I think?)

I like Powell, but it still leaves a massive hole at the guard creator spot we need to fill.

Powell might actually be more valuable to the Blazers at this point considering the contract and his play recently.

No. Powell is a much better defender and is much cheaper salary-wise. His salary is only about $5 million more over the next 4 seasons than CJ will make in the next 2. CJ is a much better ball handler. You would think Powell may come a bit cheaper in a trade, especially if we can use the TPE.

That sucks because it would have been nice to see lineups with Zion, Hayes, Hart, Graham, and Murphy.

Similar lineups last year were deadly on defense and in transition.

I’m guessing this is the change that needs to happen though, and Hart’s contract was setup to do exactly this.

Hayes and Hart’s value seem to have increased lately. Maybe the draft compensation would be less, or we could swing another young player back in the deal.

If the move is CJ for Hart, Sato, Hayes…then I would expect the picks involved with be maybe 2 protected firsts.

I wouldn’t hate it, but we would need to get production back from Hayes’ minutes recently and Harts rebounding.

We still have the TPE, but if we use that on someone close to $17 mil then we will be right against the tax.

I think we need to use the TPE on someone that can play as a stretch big. Maybe Bagley…we could also receive a pick from Sacto in that as well.

Also, as a side note….I think it’s important to know what the plan is for Zion this season. It doesn’t do us much good to make a move for CJ at the deadline if Zion won’t be able to produce for us this year.

We would be better served moving Sato for a bad contract that we can flip later.
