What a bunch of worthless non lottery firsts.

I fricking knew you were going to scroll through and list the 4% of non-lottery picks that are serviceable. I knew it.

Again, maybe the Buddy deal isnt out there. Maybe taking on Bertans isnt worth it. I get all that. But take on Lamb or Looney and Laymen for a few 2nds and have a few more expirings for January and February. Doing nothing, and basically allowing what is a massive exception to expire would be indefensible to me

I always give the benefit of the doubt and say "If I know this, they must" but honestly sometimes I wonder with this front office. Like, no other FO would have given positive value for Adams last year. No other one would have put themselves so close to the lux tax by doing that and not sending to the Warriors when they could have. Could have gotten a high 2nd, the ability to use their MLE, and overall flexibility.

Like, just the dumbest things done time and time again and I truly wonder how they get to the decisions they get to. And the explanations I have been given via 3rd parties are some of the hokiest, fortune cookie things I have ever heard.

I wish we had the ear of a reporter who could ask a breakdown of MM’s comment - phrased politely enough that they do not go defensive yet direct enough to get an answer.

quote:

You wont get an answer. No matter how you approach them. Let me give you an example of how they think. They knew the Adams deal was questionable, but their logic was something like: "If we lose, we'd rather lose with guys we want than guys we dont" -- like, that kind of thinking blows my mind in this phase of their build. Down the line, sure. But to give up assets because you like the person and you might win more with him, might not - but if you dont, at least you went down swinging with your guys....I just cant fathom that at this phase

Griff is going to go down as the only GM to trade off 4 all stars, in their primes, in 6 years

That stupid bald shite got carried to a title by Lebron and he didn’t have fun doing it so now he’s obsessed with this “building a family” bullshite.

Well that family is on its third coach in 3 years. The vets they brought in to lead the family are all gone after terrible stints. And some even went out telling the whole league how garbage this franchise is.

And some of you fight defending this piece of shite as he destroys (might as well say destroyed at this point since the damage is already done and almost irreversible) the Zion era before your eyes.

it's 25%, not 4%, and there's more that are serviceable, like Thybulle, NAW, Bazley, KPJ, Goga, Robert and Grant Williams, Simons, Okogie, Grayson Allen, Lonnie Walker, which is a group of mostly young guys that are still improving.

I'm not talking about having to rely on these late teens early 20's picks to become contributors. It's like someone else said not too long ago about how 1st round picks have more value before the pick is made, and once that pick is made, it loses that value until you actually get to see them play.

We've already did the build through the draft part with Zion, Jax, NAW, Kira, Murphey. I'm ok with giving up a 1st to get JV. Obviously not ok with giving up a 1st for Graham, even though i do like adding him. Point is, if we wanted to trade for a big star, we have no picks in 2022 to do so, so we have to start the picks in 2023, can't trade 2024, then we can trade 2025, 2026, 2027, and the expectation would be those 1sts probably won't be that great.
Before the JV trade we could have traded #10, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025. Even after it we could have traded #17, 2023, 2025, 2026.
This years pick was the best we are expected to have for a while. we should have either made the pick at 10, tried to trade up for someone we really liked, or traded it along with other warchest items for a big name player.
That #10 pick needed to be something that is going to make us much better. Yes luck is needed. and to be honest, i like JV and Murphey, but i just feel we could have done better. When Suggs fell to 5th, I'd bet Orlando didn't believe it, and were open to offers for Suggs considering they have Cole Anthony, RJ Hampton, and Markelle Fultz, or maybe were open to offers for Cole. Maybe they still are.

He was a very questionable hire at the time. I know I didn't want him.

He lucked into a title with Lebron, that they honestly should not have won if Draymond wasn't a total fricking retard.

He drafted the worst No. 1 pick probably in NBA history.

I'm very close to being completely done with him.

I'm not sure the Pels have a cap person along the lines of Khai Harley or Loomis.

We don't seem to understand how to work the system like the Saints.

Charlotte has interest in Lauri, according to Shams.

Looks like Charlotte will give Lauri an RFA Offer sheet soon.

I'd expect Jackson and Schroder to attempt to sign 1 year deals with contenders soon although haven't seen anything to that affect anywhere, just a hunch.

After that...pickins are extremely slim.

I believe I listed Griffin as my 3rd or 4th choice of the candidates and argued against him.

But he sold me at his presser and afterwards, because that is what he does.

The bloom is off the rose and the rose has rotted and been thrown in the trash.

If this team isn't solidly in the playoffs, then frick him, can his arse.

I listed 16 people drafted in the last 4 drafts as non lottery picks. There's 16 non-lottery picks in a draft, so that's 64 picks.
WHo did i list you don't agree is good?

16 players i listed means 25% of the 64 total picks turned out to be good. I didn't say they were all-stars, i said good. many i listed have already signed deals over the MLE. I'd say that pick was pretty damn good if they are making more than MLE money on their 2nd contract. Hell just staying in the league is an accomplishment after your rookie contract.
