Alabama, Charlie Daniels and the Oak Ridge Boys at a daytime outdoor show in Nashville in 1983.

My mother's younger brother sang backup and played acoustic guitar for the Oak Ridge Boys so we all got in free and got to watch the show from the side of the stage. I was only 11 so I wasn't paying close attention.

I guess my first "real" concert was Def Leppard and Queensryche at the PMAC in 1988.

Damn! Grandfunk was my first one, as well. Bloodrock opened for them at Loyola Field House in NOLA. I thought that this was 1972, but could be wrong. Nothing like a 20 minute drum solo. Great concert!

ELO in Denver in 1978. Their "Out of the Blue" tour that they did from inside a space ship that opened up. It was a good one.

I was at that show also. Me and two friends literally had to fight our way to the front. That was a raucous concert.

Not sure which came first, think it was Rush but very close when I was like 13 or so around maybe 1981, first was either:

Zebra at the high school gym in St Martinville

or

Rush - Moving Pictures tour at the UNO lakefront arena. Also first weed hit, lol

Hirsch Memorial Coliseum. Shreveport.

The Shreveport music scene benefitted greatly from geography back then.

It seemed for a number of years big tours would start on the east coast and they would work their down to Atlanta then hit Birmingham, Jackson on the way to Dallas. Shreveport was in the sweet spot for big mid week shows.

By the time I was 15 I had seen Thin Lizzy twice, UFO twice, ZZ Top twice, Iron Maiden (first US tour,) Van Halen on their first tour, BOC, Nazareth x 2, Rush, Ted Nugent, ELO, Eagles and many I'm forgetting.

It was an early night (usually a Wed or Thursday night) for everyone, first band (there were usually 3) would go on around 7- 7:30 headliner at 9.

What do you mean by "first real"? I remember a pretty fun concert at the EBR State Fairgrounds in the late 80s. My parents always brought us to Fest For All, Blues Fest, Bon Fete, etc. Rush was one of the first shows that I went to without my parents. Smoked pot with my uncle.

shite I forgot Kiss, think it was Destroyer but it was the original lineup.

All the shows I listed were at Hirsch. The only show at Municipal I went to was Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush.

Jealous. I went to Blue Oyster Cult with my dad and both of my uncles a few years ago. Less than a year later, my dad and one of my uncles had both passed away. I kind of knew that it was likely to be my dad's last show, but my uncle deteriorated quickly. Both of them were huge BOC fans, which rubbed off on me, so I love that I got that experience with them before they were gone. Still chokes me up to think about it.

Peter Frampton with Rick Derringer opening at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center. I want to say 1977. or 1978

Frampton was still huge and riding high off Frampton Comes Alive and was touring on his follow-up: "I'm In You" which is a great underrated album.

Rick Derringer was great too (RIP)
