Been listening to that station for over 20 years now.

There used to be a brass band show on late Sunday afternoons. It was originally hosted by the "real" DJ Davis. Then someone else took it over. Can't quite remember when the station retired it, but it seems like forever. Also, the late Saturday night blues and roots show by John Sinclair always featured some great stuff.

pretty sure there is a direct correlation between driving a station wagon and having a WWOZ bumper sticker in new orleans

Can't tell if trolling as usual or not... but going to emphatically agree. Any station that will play Drive By Truckers, Otis Redding, and Dr. John is good by me.

I wish I could buy some of their playlists. There will be times when djs are on a roll. The weeks leading up to mardi gras and mardi gras day especially are some of my favorite times to listen. I'll post a schedule soon

That's what it's all about. I'm down for musical diversity, but they have too much time devoted to hispanic/African/etc... music. I love jazz, but it really has to be live in a whiskey/cigar atmosphere for me to really get into it. When they switch DJ's at 4PM on weekdays, I always change the channel.

WHYR(96.9) in town(Baton Rouge) is not too shabby if you are streaming it(their over air signal is weak)...but WWOZ is very good.

I love the music on 96.9, but goddamn they need a stronger signal.
Sometimes, I am trying to tune in and actually get the 98.1 feed (usually Walton and Johnson

Lightning 100 in Nashville about 10 years ago was the MJ of radio stations. Still great, but went a little too mainstream.
