Would you go see Jeff Tweedy by himself in concert?

I’ll be in Asheville next week and he’s playing Tuesday night paired with some Limey named James Elkington. If it was a Wilco show I would definitely go. Even though they a far inferior to Son Volt, but I digress. Anybody seen Tweedy solo? Worth $40? It’s Asheville and there will be plenty of other local live music options that night...

It is incredible to me that people actually have this opinion and are able to walk and talk and survive on this earth.

Yea, think I’m going to check it out. Just hope I can find my old Trace shirt from
96.

I went last week.

I would not go again, even with a free ticket. It wasn't horrible, but was just kind of boring. I'm only a casual Wilco fan though, for whatever that is worth. He did a LOT of talking between songs.

In preparation, here's a couple decent songs that aren't as good as anything Farrar,

Pecan Pie
The Ballad of the Opening Band

That is honestly what I was worried about. I have no desire to go hear Jeff Tweedy talk but wouldn’t mind hearing him play. I may end up going hear some bluegrass.

Maybe he will tell that story about running into Jay at the beach, or hitting on his fiance.

I may have exaggerated a little bit. He didn't ramble on between every song, but certainly more talking than most shows I go to.

I mostly wouldn't go again because the one man with a guitar on stage format just kind of bores me. I only went because I was given a ticket and the wife and kids were out of town.

I saw him solo last fall. It’s a good show. You’ll enjoy it.

I saw him in NOLA a year or two after Katrina. He was good. He got pissed that some knuckleheads in the crowd were talking, then said something along the lines of "Hey it's kind of stupid to pay to see somebody and talk the whole time, but what do I care, I got your money."
The best was when Wilco played in NOLA a few months before Katrina and they were giving out free packs of American Spirits to the crowd. Tweedy says something how this is the first show he's played since he quit smoking and he has a dozen nicotine patches on his arse. People start tossing packs of cigarettes on stage. "frick you guys! I'm trying to do something for my health and for my family!"
