Well, it doesn't help when your lead singer can't even sing.
Amazing what studio sessions can do.

guns n roses. axl was off pitch all night. slash & izzy sounded like they were playing in different keys than duff. add in their sloppiness and it was by far the worst sounding live performance I've seen.

O.A.R. Just lifeless and terrible.

STAIND around 2002ish
no energy, just going through motions, Aaron Lewis sat on a stool half asleep for most of the show, etc

BTO in 75. Just really, really bad. The canucks loved them.

Seen a lot of good bands play like garbage in the opening slot as they were ignored by the audience: Alice in Chains, Faith No More, and Radiohead especially. But I'll write that off to circumstance.
Steve Miller Band is pretty lousy, though that seems like easy pickins. Watching some disinterested guy roll through the hits and collect a paycheck is pretty discouraging to see.
But I'd say Snoop Dogg. I've never seen a guy mail in a performance like he has. He barely even rapped, just rolled tape of his rhyes and said "yeah" over it a few times. It was new levels of not giving a damn.

Luke Bryan at the Endymion Ball last year. It was the worst abortion of a so called performance that I have ever seen. We were literally laughing at him.

The Doors at The Bank in Torrance, CA. They played for maybe 40 minutes, finishing their set just as we were coming on to the acid we dropped especially for the occasion. Ray Manzarek was in hippie dipshite mode, talking about how groovy and far out the scene is, can you dig it, far out man.
In an embarrassing attempt to be hip, the band came across as terribly lame.

Van Halen, Centroplex , F.U.C.K. tour

Deftones
I'd seen them once before Chino got fat and they were amazing. Saw them around 2003 or '04 and they were terrible. No energy and Chino acted drunk and sloppy.
I think Puddle of Mudd was on one of those tours too and they were laughably bad.

The Replacements. Primarily because they all got in a fight, and suspended the concert after one shite song (can´t even remember what they ´played´ but it sounded horrible, and obviously, Westerberg and Bob got into it).
I would have loved to have seen them, and never had the opportunity again.
fricking shame.

I will second O.A.R. until kingdom come. The first time I saw DMB in '06, O.A.R. was the opener. Dreadful.

When did you see them? It is amazing how much fame and money can frick up a band. I saw them in 1987 opening up for Motley Crue on the Girls, Girls, Girls tour. When I saw them in Huntsville, AL, Appetite for Destruction may have been out for 3 or 4 months at the most. They were amazing!! The Crue were fricking on point that night, also. Actually in the top 5 of concerts I have been to.

Some death metal band at a club in Atlanta in the 90's. The lead throat guy was an oriental dude with what looked like fake snake skin chaps on. He had an inverted pentagram for a belt buckle
