1. Lead singer's voice is finger nails on a chalkboard annoying. It's some kind of weird mix of high pitched, rough and shreiking that is plain annoying.

2. Lyrics and songwriting sound like it was written by a 5 year old. Example: "I'm dynamite / I'll put up a fight / I'm a load / Watch me explode" seriously sounds like they found some kid learning basic vocabulary in a 1st grade Australian School to write that.

3. Their style was done better by Queen who was more innovative and creative and Van Halen who was more smooth and structured.

Yeah, you don't get it. The appeal of AC/DC is very similar to the appeal of Kiss. They were a high energy band that wrote simple fun songs that sound really cool and put on a tremendous live performance. They're not trying to be super deep and creative.

Kiss and AC/DC were appealing to the same kind of people that simple pop hip/hop music appeals to today. It's about sex and being tough. There's a little witty wordplay here and there, but it's just crass, loud, cool, and fun.

If you don't like it, it's probably not for you.

I mean, does this not sound like something fun to drive 90 mph+ to on a 2-lane country road late at night on the way to bang your gf who's riding shotgun?

I would agree if AC/DC was setting out to be a lyrically stylized and superbly ranged vocal rock band, but that’s not what AC/DC claims to be or even tries to be, so it doesn’t bother me. I think there’s a place in the music world for a simple rock band like AC/DC. I’m not a big fan by any means, but I don’t mind the sound all that much. That being said, I could get why someone would entirely dislike them.

This. They're not trying to be Dream Theater or The Beatles. They're more akin to Black Flag, Florida Georgia Line, or Blink 182 than they are to Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, and that's ok. Not every song needs to be deep and complicated, bruding and tortured. Not every rock artist needs to be like Devin Townsend or Radiohead. There's room for all kinds of artists. Artists can make songs that are deep and lyrically challenging exploring all kinds of emotions and deep questions about what it means to be human. There's also room for artists that make music that's instantly relatable because it's fun to dance to and is about f&%king and how fun hot women are to f&%k. Rock n roll is a big tent genre

I am sorry that you want ACDC to be Modest Mouse. That's not how this works.

This is what AC/DC is/was. Then their lead singer died and they made a deal with Satan (transforming from an acronym for high voltage to Antichrist/Devil’s Child) to get a new singer. Nothing more, nothing less.

Do not ever compare them or Van Halen to queen.

No idea why OP is getting downvoted so much but he's absolutely right. AC/DC is the most overrated band in this earth's history. Not opinion but a fact.

The people who think AC/DC is overrated need to debate this with Keith Richards. They are one of his favorite all time bands.

I cant stand the voice of the AC/DC lead singer. It's why I can't listen to their music, its just plain awful

I think "For those about to rock" is an even worse song from a lyrics standpoint, like OP said, sounds like a 9 year old wrote it.

Although I think Kiss's "Rock and Roll All Night" song is the worst song of all time from bands of this genre/era

The only difference being KISS's songs are actually catchy (and more complex than AC/DC's)

Most of this. I actually think the singer's voice works on the few tunes of theirs that I like. It's just that the songs are so shitty (outside of the 5 or so that are good/great).

You lost me here. They are not even vaguely like either of those bands.

Sorry, this is where I downvoted. I’m an AC/DC fan and like their music. I don’t get to wrapped up in song structure or lyrics. I just really like the sound.

For some reason I absolutely can’t stand Van Halen. Van Halen is very overrated in my book. Much more then AC/DC.

Stopped reading here. This tells me all I need to know about your opinion and why it should be disregarded.

Their "style" is pretty damn close having absolutely zero in common with those bands other than roughly the same era.

Sometimes this forum displays astounding cluelessness.
