That is the 4th line in the song.

So like I said, one of the opening lyrics. And it doesn't matter if it's the 4th line of the song or the 20th, it's crappy song writing.

They're the Winger of hard rock music.
Don't disrespect Winger like that.

Read the lyrics to "Rockstar" and that's a prime example of why Nickelback is hated.

I'm not sure how those lyrics are any worse than any of the other drivel put out by shite bands like imagine dragons, but people don't hate on them 1/100th of the amount they do for nickleback

For me it is the faux-grunge sound ten years too late. Like a dollar store version of an STP re-issue.

ETA- Add Creed to this as well.

When grunge finally died, Creed and Nickelback were there as pallbearers to carry the coffin to the big hole in the ground.

I don’t listen to nickelback for the lyrics. This is beach, beer, hanging out music. Perfect for it.

They became the epitome of how shitty and generic the popular hard rock music became in the early 00's. Plus, they just kept making the same song.

Formulaic, simplistic, and clichéd. The rock version of bro country. Chris Stapleton is that way too.

Rock is supposed to be counter-culture and rebellious, even though much of that aesthetic is fake and contrived.

Indeed. No band I've ever listened to gave me their albums or concert tickets or t-shirts for free.

It's why I see guys like Kurt Cobain and Tom Morello as huge hypocrites and phonies. They are/were both millionaires and made executives above them even wealthier, using their "art" as a commodity.

It tickles me now to her Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" played on Classic Hits 103.3, wedged between Tiffany and Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark.
