I'll go Robert Earl Keen. With Dylan and Eddie Vedder rounding out the top 3.

The singing of REK and Dylan is perfect to express the messages in the songs they write. I don't consider a singer to be shitty unless other artists consistently improve significantly on the versions sung by the original.

I guess. Both are awesome. But neither can carry a tune in a bucket.

I'm not sure what your point is. I didn't say that the fact that they can't sing takes away from thier music. I just said they can't sing.

Maybe Lou Reed. Vocally, I'd put him beneath just about anyone mentioned in this thread. But by and large he does well with what he's got to work with. I try to remember that when I play and sing.
