This x 100. Can you imagine what the ABB could've done had Duane stuck around (they did pretty darn good without him)?

Not only ABB but the numerous side projecs Duane was in would also greatly benefit, chiefly Derek & the Dominos.

Hendrix is also up there. It would have been interesting to see how he adjusted to the funk/disco era of the mid to late 70s.

I refuse your options, and hereby raise Duane Allman from the dead.

You are welcome.

ETA: I am pleasantly unsurprised to find that I was not the first to post this.

the Layla sessions is one of my top 5 favorite albums of all time.. If Duane hadn't passed away so young, he and Clapton could have had made some more incredible music together.

Yeah those jams are beyond sick. I wish Tom Dowd would release the entire 12 hour session.

Clapton has always said that Duane was his musical soul brother. They only played together about 15 times, which includes the Layla recording and one live show. Insane.

I love the story of how they first met.

Duane was a huge fan and was taken but their manager to see Clapton play one night. Well Clapton was also a huge Duane fan. So when Duane saw Clapton on a stage he was in awe. Then Clapton spotted Duane and was so stars truck that he flubbed multiple notes during his solo.

It was the opposite. Clapton went to an Allman Brothers Band show in Miami. Duane saw Clapton while in the middle of a jam and stopped playing for a few seconds. After the show the Allmans and Derek & the Dominos jammed for 12 hours, arguably one of the greatest jam sessions in history.

Jeff Buckley, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, gone way too early in their musical catalogs. Jimi, Janis, Hoon, Cobain..
