I've never been to The Gorge but Red Rocks is the best music venue I've been to by far. The Gorge might be better but it's hard to imagine how. I've seen too many shows there to count and they've all been fantastic. I've even been to shows with bands I didn't particularly like and they've been outstanding too. The energy of the crowd is always good and bands will feed off of that and turn in an amazing performance. Which only makes the crowd that much better. It's just a great place.

Red Rocks is an amazing experience. Seen Panic, Avett, and Sturgill there. Really cool history and if you’re into communion via psychedelics...son you’ve found Mecca.

This dude is:

Backstory: Bob Weir was opening for SCI. They were playing "Maggie's Farm" and every time it got to the refrain (Ain't gonna work on Maggie's Farm no more) this guy would stand up and fire off the double birds to whomever (The Man I suppose or maybe just the uncaring universe).

It’s probably my favorite venue I’ve been to as far as the sound goes, but if you are talking the scenic aspect, Gorge is Le GOAT.

Many. Grew up in area. First “real” concert was Pearl Jam and Bad Religion in maybe 1994. Saw Tool in 1998 and that was unreal too

Well I pulled the trigger Friday. Got tickets for Brit Floyd there June 7th (Thursday). My wife and I will fly in on Wednesday night (late). See the concert Thursday night then fly out on Sunday night back to Atlanta. Our first trip to Denver

Any must sees in our short visit, let me know. My father retired from Delta and I am still on his flight privileges. Makes these trips a little easier. WE have to fly and shitty times to get on a flight but it does not bother me....

Have not booked a hotel or anything. Just jacked that we are going to be there in a few months

Depends on what you like to do. Rockies game if they're in town. LoDo. Get out in the country and go see Rocky Mtn. Natl. Park. Maybe drive up Mt. Evans or Pikes Peak. Day trip to Breck or Vail. Breweries...we got a ton of 'em.

I saw America there in 1980 and they started off OK and then went off the rails. They were just wasted. They tried Horse With No Name towards the end; forgot the lyrics; and walked off mid song. End of concert.

Great venue though. Karla Bonoff opened and sounded fantastic.

I went back in 2009, wanted to see Levon helm and he was playing there. Got tickets to see Ziggy Marley and 311 the night before, and then saw Levon and John Prine. It was an amazing two nights. Hoping to get the wife to go this year with me since we live inn KC now and can drive over in a day.

What are the best shuttle services to Red Rocks? I had a vacation planned for Denver and the Avett Bros happen to be there. Just bought my show tickets. Thanks!

We got blackout drunk and walked to the front row like we owned the place and watched the whole concert from there. Ended up getting too fricked up and left halfway through Railroad Earth and fell asleep in the parking lot.

Man that sounds like an AWESOME time!!!

Great recs. I saw the Rockies when Aranado hit the walkoff homer last June and then headed to Red Rocks that night. On Father’s Day with my son no less. Awesome day.

Went out to LoDo too a few times with friends. Had a blast every time.

Maybe drive up Mt. Evans

Ho. Lee. shite!!! Absolutely the most incredible, phenomenal, stunning drive I’ve ever made in my life. VERY close to Denver too. We grabbed a “Mountain Pie” first at Beau Jo’s in Idaho Springs. Colorado style pizza. Never knew there was such a thing but it was so fricking delicious. Still think about it often. And you could leave that Beau Jo’s and be on the road towards Mt. Evans Road in just minutes.

If you like live music it’s a must do trip. Stay below row 50, but make sure you can still see over the stage to see downtown Denver.

I saw String Cheese Incident there a couple years ago, the last night of a 3-night run. They are from Colorado so they had a huge fan base there and the evening was great. There were thunderstorms off in the distance behind the stage. Full moon as I recall. It was a great show! My brother and sister are seeing WSP there this Summer, I’m jealous. It’s the best outdoor venue hands down. Tabernacle is my #1 indoor venue.
