Who else has been blasting Rush all day today?

If so, what have you been playing?
I was riding around in the car playing a few preferred selections including:
By-Tor and the Snow Dog
The Camera Eye
Red Barchetta
Subdivisions
Bacchus Plateau
Beneath, Between and Behind
Time Stand Still
It's funny, before yesterday I had gone through a pretty long period of being burned out on Rush. Hadn't cued up any of their stuff in a while. I'm vividly reminded why I was such a fan in the first place.

I just can’t... dislike their music..
However, I realize his influence and know he’s a loss to music...

Had a crazy "cosmos" convergence today. When Tom Petty died I sent my kids a text to the effect of "this is a Mr Holland's opus moment for me", referring to the part in the movie where Lennon died and he took it to heart.
Today I go get some strings for my guitar. Shop owner is a drummer, I end up spending an hour or so there talking about Peart, Rush, their concerts (I've seen them 5 times), lyrics, and I tell him the Opus-text story. Came home, turned on the TV for some background noise while re-stringing the guitar. What's on HBO?
Mr. Holland's Opus.

This is the answer for folks like me who weren't Rush fans persay but could watch Peart for hours.
Think I may Youtube "Neil Peart being a badass" and go down that wormhole.

Watched “Beyond the Lighted Stage” on Netflix last night.

I've just been picking random songs to play. Had to start with Red Barchetta but after that, whatever I felt like hearing next basically. No rhyme or reason to it. Had a nice glass of The Macallan to toast Neil with.

He’s a crazy awesome drummer but I just can’t stand Rush though.

Listened to their 1st live Album "All The World's A Stage" today.
Fantastic live album. I prefer the old Rush before they got so heavy into keyboards.
RIP Neil Peart

Have an upvote.
I like Rush but I understand that it is perfectly ok to not like a band or singer.
I don’t like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin or Sting. But I recognize the influence and reasons that many/most people do.
This board is pretty mild but there’s still this juvenile attitude that of one doesn’t like a certain artist they are somehow “wrong”.
Which is not only stupid but impossible.

If you came of age when Rush was in their prime then it’s not possible to dislike Rush.

Last night CBS played Tom Sawyer when cutting to commercial... very cool

2112 in its entirety.
Also watched b&w YouTube concert footage from 1976 Caress of Steel tour.
You like Neil check out Didacts and Narpets from that album.

I will date myself, but I always think of this as the "new" Rush song.
Lyrically, one of Peart's most introspective and touching,
quote:
I let my past go too fast
No time to pause
If I could slow it all down
Like some captain,
Whose ship runs aground
I can wait until the tide comes around
He was in his mid-30s, then, and I was barely 20. I didn't get it until just a couple of years ago.
quote:
Freeze this moment
A little bit longer
Make each sensation
A little bit stronger
and later -
quote:
I'm not looking back
But I want to look around me now
See more of the people
And the places that surround me now
With his untimely passing, it is even more poignant now.

Yes, when I heard the sad news about Peart I went to YouTube and rocked out on their live performance of 2112 from 1976. What an awesome band but somewhat underappreciated I believe
