NeIl Peart is the drummer and "lyricist." He does not write the "music." I can't speak for the way in which the vocal melodies are written. I'm sure he probably writes the the lyrics with a cadence in mind, but I'm sure Geddy finalizes the notes. However, Peart is familiar with keys as evidenced by his use of bells.
I'm actually a huge Neil Peart fan, but that needed clarification.

Oh. So basically the Music Board is an extension of the dumbassery found on the OT.

Was it that hard to tell that I was joking?

Agreed. He was probably the most talented performer to ever live, but a huge part of his success musically was a product of Quincy Jones.
Do what? He pretty much co-produced or produced all of his music and wrote his own songs. Youv'e got to be kidding me.

I find it interesting that people question michael as a genius...he has been famous for his music since he was 10 yrs old...how can that not be genius..,he wrote most of his stuff and has sold more albums than anyone...he crafted every step of his concerts from the music to dancing...

Wow, how could I have left out George Martin ? Largely responsible for the tremendous success of the Beatles.

That dude was fricking ridiculous. Extremely under appreciated and under rated by people who don't play bass.
Honestly how many non-musicians even know that guy's name?
