This is the greatest C and W fishing song: Fishing by Elvin Bishop. Musicians on the album include Dickey Betts and Butch Trucks from the Allman Brothers Band, Toy Caldwell from the Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniels, and Sly Stone. Vassar Clements also appears as a guest musician. Album also has a great cover of Hey Hey Good Lookin' and is an all-around good C and W/Southern ROck album. "Fishing" is somewhat tongue and cheek, but it still is a great fishing song.

Greatest is tough to choose. But one of my favorites is Three Wooden Crosses by Randy Travis.
Also shoutout to Bo Burnham’s “Panderin’” for calling out bro country for the dumb shite that it is:

Now and then, we'd light a little smoke in the truck out back. Then a little ole Jim beam and we'd get right.

True story from a few weeks ago. While up on a hike in Yosemite, I hear All My Rowdy Friends playing. Here come 2 young girls ( yes good looking) with 2 more behind them. I had to stop them thinking they were from the deep south too. They all went to Santa Cruz. Caught me totally off guard. Guess these girls thought they are rebels. lol
Anyhow CSB.

I've even screamed that at the top of my lungs, stone-cold sober, a time or two.

Absolutely perfect answer…
quote:
You never even called me by my name" -David Allan Coe quote: [Recitation:] Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song And he told me it was the perfect country & western song I wrote him back a letter and I told him it was Not the perfect country & western song because he hadn't said anything at all about mama, Or trains, Or trucks, Or prison, Or getting' drunk Well he sat down and wrote another verse to the song And he sent it to me, And after reading it, I realized that my friend had written the perfect Country & western song And I felt obliged to include it on this album The last verse goes like this here: Well, I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison And I went to pick her up in the rain But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck She got run ned over by a damned old train [Chorus:] And I'll hang around as long as you will let me And I never minded standing' in the rain No, a' you don't have to call me darlin', darlin' You never even call me Well I wonder why you don't call me Why don't you ever call me by my name
