Still remember them explaining why they removed Louisiana from their name. "they didn't want people to think they were just a Louisiana band".

didn't seem to hurt Boston,Kansas,Chicago.

You could make an argument that Pantera is from here also. If you buy that argument, then the answer is Pantera.

No, no you can't make that argument. Phil is from NOLA but the rest of the members of Pantera are from Austin, where the band was formed before Phil joined.

The biggest, most influential name in rock history from Louisiana is almost certainly Jerry Lee Lewis. I doubt it's even close. He played with bands, but I guess you could argue that he was a solo act.

If he doesn't count, it gets tougher. I scrolled down a bit and saw more of folks posting their personal favorites, which is cool, but some of those bands like Acid Bath aren't that well known even if they were/are good.

Here is a current band that probably should be considered b/c they're playing rock as much or more than anything else: Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue.

Yeah, it gets a little fuzzy as to what "rock" is, but the Meters toured with the Stones, so I'm saying "yes!"

Neutral Milk Hotel ... Aeroplane is a top 3 album of the last 25 years IMO..

Shane West from Baton Rouge was the lead singer for the reunited version of the Germs.. I just wanted to prove I'm cool for knowing that

There was a band from Opelousas called Moon Fly Syrup that were amazing live; should have been huge IMO.

What about Lillian Axe?

Was the band Baton Rouge actually from Baton Rouge? They had c-list hair metal success, circa 1990.

Got to see them live a couple of years ago. Was a fun evening of cool, pop grooves and catchy lyrics.
