Pretty good list. I would add Sonic Youth, Replacements,Green On Red, Jason and the Scorchers, Violent Femmes, New Model Army, Billy Bragg, Legendary Pink Dots, Love and Rockets/Tones on Tail....

I liked some xtc stuff and had a best friend who thought like you. I just didn't get the adulation. I actually thought Stawberry Alarm Clock was better.
